Alright beer experts, how long should i leave my ris on coffee? Is there a typical time window that i can start taking samples at the front end of and go from taste?

Depends on how much coffee you used And what method and how big your batch is. I just put 4oz of whole bean into my 5gal batch of 8.7% Stout and started tasting on the third day. Pulled the beans out immediately. So for my method three days was good. But I think 4oz was maybe a lot of coffee.

Depends on how much coffee you used And what method and how big your batch is. I just put 4oz of whole bean into my 5gal batch of 8.7% Stout and started tasting on the third day. Pulled the beans out immediately. So for my method three days was good. But I think 4oz was maybe a lot of coffee.

A lot of it depends on the temperature for an extraction rate, too. With cold extraction methods, with around that much coffee, it could be done in as little as 24 hours. I had done a batch with 5 ounces of coffee and was done in about a day. The one before that I had for three days and you picked up more of the grind flavor then the coffee flavor, if you follow me. Very similar to an Arabic style of coffee. For 10 gal I would go cracked beans and start tasting at 2 days with around 8oz of coffee bean. If the bean is low in acidity and oil, it should come out clean with good head retention and low bitterness in about that time frame.

Well actually....

Good on TG for doing another big beer... I like their beers a lot, but have always wondered why they went so small on the BS and it's variants.

If it's even half as good as Big RICC, I'll be buying it quite a bit. The salted caramel that I've tasted in most of these beers (NB's especially) has always been really subdued. Like... barely there. If it's complimentary to the malt, I could see this one being a winner with spice from the Belgian yeast.
