I've tried a fair amount of smoked beers. Hated them all BUT one. That one was made by the guy at our LHBS and it was just spot on perfect.

The only candy I eat is a piece from the Russian at work. His family sends him a box of chocolates each year and he shares them with us at the yearly engineering meeting. Each one has something inside, but none of us read Russian. He claims one is poison and just evil laughs, then straight faces us and eats one. Don't even care. It's good chocolate.

Just don't eat the slightly warm one with the eerie green glow.

I've only really liked one smoked beer, Smoking Wood from The Bruery. Otherwise, I get very sick of the smoke taste very quickly. Some I simply can't stand and pour out.

What about that sponge candy krap?

Haha just picked it up a couple weeks back and finally using it today. I figured a more precise final gravity reading wouldnt hurt knowing about. I like it so far!

Coffee still, probably need to switch to water soon.

I've heard they are even more fragile that the regular hydrometers. Thinner glass and all.

The neck of it is very thin but i have a good track record with hydrometers. Ive only broken one in almost three years. Knock on wood.

What should I brew this coming weekend? On hand I have (but open to getting stuff):

Pilsner
2Row
Roast Barley
Munich
Vienna
Maybe some C60

Chico and ESB strains. Also have the Pils going I might be able to pull some yeast off of, but that'll just be a week old so not sure if only bad early-poopers would be flocced out by then. Oh, have a Brett cake too.

Saaz on hand

Guess I could do a German Pale Ale or something. Pils and Saaz with chico? Not sure. Maybe I'll just pick up some wheat and bug blends and finally start a Flanders Red.

Flanders red would be good if you can wait that long. I think it was @gavin that mentioned a vienna lager and that sounds pretty great right now. Luckily I'll be drinking a few of those tonight with carne asada tacos.

Yeah I want to get a lot of lagers going. Been slacking on them because I can get ale yeast for free. Probably wont have too good of yeast dropped out just at a week though, so maybe next weekend will be another lager. The one i have is just classic american pils, but I'll be fine using that on any crisp lager. Vienna lager does sound good.

A Vienna lager with Vienna/Munich/Pils and some of the yeast you would have saved from your starter for the Pils were you not too lazy to harvest some/make a starter.

Pick up some German Noble hops a whisper of Carafa II for color.

Lager yeast of choice

or an Altbier with WLP036. That's what all the cool people are making these days. Nouveau Altbier

ETA: I'm slow and @blizzard read my mind.

Hah! Starters are for suckers. Buy a 200B pitch and go to town. Then harvest slurry from the conical for next time.

Brett saison.

How about an Altbier?

Sponge candy is really good. I just don't eat sweets. We used to hit Captain and Coke so hard that after one Super Bowl party, I could no longer physically stomach soda or candy. Never looked back.

You need to give us fair warning before posting this ugly abomination of a beverage.

Oh, I was talking about that stupid looking glass. His gray beer doesn't bother me.

**** you.

I don't even know the name of that type of glass. But I do know that it was $2.99 at World Market.

Blending shouldn't be too hard. I'll rack the original to a keg, then push half or whatever back out and blend. The main thing is I'll have two kegs tied up with Flanders, that'll be a bitch. Maybe I'll just buy some Coopers tabs and bottle or something.

Not looking forward to using a carboy again. Cleaning? Boy, I dunno.

Yknow, I got a Cascade sour in my fridge, known for pretty aggressive Lacto strain. Ill have to pitch some dregs from that and hope I can speed up the ol' Flanderization.

Give me an excuse to finally crack that bad boy 2011 Bourbonic Plague I've been saving. Anyone wanna come do splitsies?
