A friendly place for friends who drink

Lately, I have been spending my evenings in the basement playing PS4 Star Wars: Battlefront. I do mindless dumb ****, too...I just like to read a little afterwards.

How is the coop in that game? Ive been thinking about buying it to play couch-coop with SWMBO. We tried Borderlands, but I quickly found out that when she said shes "played a few video games", she was talking about SNES/Genesis Sonic and Mario...the control scheme of a modern FPS was way too much for her

Me? Playing in the snow in shorts. Putting on pajamas after playing in the snow, then watch a good chick flick with seasoned popcorn. Something nice, like Serendipity or The Proposal. Sitting on the deck on a sunny morning with coffee, sketching kitchen redesigns for friends. Drinking a good IPA from a wine or champagne glass.

Suddenly I'm reminded of that episode of South Park where they fake Butters' death and he goes undercover as a girl named Marjorine:

I have a hard time finding books I like. The historical ones are usually great until the half way mark, and then they just keep repeating themselves and zzzz. Then I can't find a fantasy series besides ASOIAF I enjoy. Need to try some other fiction genres I reckon.

Have you stayed true to the books and not watched the spoiler series yet?

I have had it with GRRM's slow writing and may capitulate and watch the latest season. I really like the ASOIAF books. The show too in spite of its variations from the books. That and Tolkien are the only fantasy books I've read and ASOIAF kicks LOTR's ass in just about every way.

Unlike your cigar smoking, you reading GRRM does not surprise me. Have you read the "Dunk and Egg" trilogy by GRRM?

I don't know the lingo. By coop, are you talking about multiple people playing on one machine? Unless I am just clueless (only have had the PS4 since Christmas) there is no way to play multiple players on one machine while playing online. I think that sucks. I was hoping me and the boy could go online together and play.

If I'm just dumb, and there is a way to do this, can someone please explain how?

I was playing Super Mario World on the Wii U and wife was laughing because I was stuck on level 10. Said she could do better so I handed the controller over and proceeded to see what why it was so entertaining for her.

Yup, love the Dunk! I think there's a fourth that came out last year I need to catch, but have read the others.

I'll watch the show. It seems he'll have TWOW finished maybe late this year or early next, if it were the finale I might try to wait.. but there's still one more (at least) to come, so there's no point in waiting for 10 years. Plus with how popular GOT is there's no way to avoid spoilers. Also the show is so different might as well.

I don't believe SW:Battlefront has a co-op mode. As far as I know, it is just online multiplayer. It can be a fun couch game though, it is very straightforward and easy to pick up since it's mostly just hip firing/spray and pray style.

IIRC you haven't read Beowulf. Read Beowulf (Seamus Heaney translation). It's quick and he's the greatest hero ever created. I'll read a book if you read that book.

From the excerpts I've read, Winds of winter sounds like it will be good. Hope he wraps up some of the tangental stuff. I can't get interested in the Iron Islander's fleet story line for one.

I think I'll give it another year before I watch the last season.

You can play multi-player offline, though. The boy and I have done that. But the offline games/maps are very limited.

I am addicted to playing the game where you just try to kill more of them than they kill of you ("Smash", maybe?). I also like the one where you have to capture the pods. I get frustrated in the flying games, and haven't really gotten into the "hero" games.

I like Victarion though even though he's a doorknob. But he wears plate and has a magic fire hand now, so :rockin:. But yeah it's pretty boring plotline overall for sure.

Aww bummer. I'd buy you the Heaney translation. I bought it on a moody-whim when my parents took me to the Adirondacks in high school.. read it as a reason to avoid the family. Sat at the end of the dock on the edge of a lake one morning and finished by the end of vacation. The only book I've read multiple times. I'd never get a different translation. The one we ended up reading in school was horrible in comparison.
