Wow. That's just pathetic. Great job on your part Duffman!

I made damn sure nobody took my beer, too. Losers
Actually, pretty sure I told somebody to hold my bag...so inadvertently I asked somebody to hold my beer and watch me do something. I just parented a train car of people.

Damn Duffman I just stopped to read that before rolling out of bed. Craziness. Glad she's okay, glad you were there, glad your beer survived the trip.

I'm on the train this morning, reading, playing candy crush, things like that. We have maybe three stops to go until I get off. Im on one end of the car, and on the other end of the car a girl, maybe a sophomore or junior in high school passes out and starts to seize. Her boyfriend, frantic, has no idea what to do, asks somebody to push the call for help button. Somebody pushes it, the conductor asks if there is an emergency, nobody says a god damn word. Nothing. I make my over to them, yell at people to help or get the **** out of my way. Shes done seizing, but her boyfriend is trying to prop her up. I tell him I'm going to pick her up, ask if that's ok, pick her up and turn around, people are standing in the doorway, afraid to lose their spots or just gawking. Again, had to yell at people. Get her outside, take off her scarf, lay her down on a bench, cover her up, elevate her legs and start asking her questions. Finally a god damn nurse gets off the same car as me and starts doing the same, checking her pulse. Rescue got there as she was coming around, able to answer questions, ask what happened. People just sat there and watched...they should be ashamed of themselves. Seriously

I had a seat to myself this morning. Back off.

I had a seat to myself this morning. Back off.

I did too, until I decided to help. Wonder how many seconds the seat was vacant. It was the prime single seat, too. Glass to one side, right next to the door, the wall on the other side. virtually impossible for a hobo to fall on you. Perfect I tells ya

I'm awesome.

Good for you man. It's unbelievable how utterly incompetent people are today. Every life or death situation I've been in, was the exact same way. People just panicking and staring. You're one of the good ones.

20m commute this morning? Nah. 60m. Sky is just barfing snow and we're due for another possible 12 inches while at work. Know who didn't come in? Yeah. The people in charge.

FunkTuesday.

That's pretty sad, Duffman. It's a good thing you were there to assist.

My wife passed out on a flight a few years ago. The flight attendants had to ask the guy across the aisle to move a couple rows up while they treated her, and he threw a big hissy fit until they offered him a voucher or whatever for a future flight. Sorry for your pain and suffering there, bud.

I've only had one brush with incident on a flight. Me and the fam were heading down to Florida...I think this was four years ago or so. This 16 year old girl was sitting next to me, my son was on the other side of me. She was traveling by herself down to meet her boyfriend. She was deathly allergic to bananas. I never realized that on a flight, even if somebody 7 rows in front of you opens something you are allergic to, it severely affects you. This poor girl stopped breathing, inflated like a balloon. Somebody found a shot for her in her bag and we made an emergency landing in Charlotte for her to be lifted out. That's got to be a scary experience for a 16 year old. We didn't have anybody like your ******, I would of lost my **** on him for sure lol

I do not know why people with PhD degrees think they know everything. Like the whole universe of knowledge is downloaded into their brains when they receive a PhD. Especially when they think they know everything about non related fields.

We have this visiting faculty whom has a background in high voltage, minimal experience at that.He went from college to a lab at the same college. Our Marx Generator is having an issue with the charging circuit. The obvious issue is the lack of 240V at the variac. This guy goes to tearing wires out because "they look useless" He has no idea what he is doing but "it looks nice".

I just walked away and said told him that when he is done playing I'll let the department head know how much it will cost to fix it.

I hate people like that...got a story I'm sure you can relate to, as well. I worked Comm back in the Corps. We had a dip**** platoon sergeant at one time who thought he knew everything because of the rank. Dip**** set up an antenna into some power lines. A PFC ran over and drop kicked him away from the continuing current coursing through his body. When he finally came to his senses, he tried to bring the PFC on charges for assaulting an NCO. The complaint made it only to the company CO who berated him for being an *******, risking the life of a non-NCO who risked his life to save his and he was charging him for it. He had him transferred and we never saw him or his like again.

This same guy comes here telling us that we have been doing testing wrong for the past 30 years and dissing our previous director, whom help write the standards that everyone uses for testing.

There is a reason that our lab is still thriving and his lab closed down, he does not like it when I bring up the closing of their lab.

Agreed. I understand it is an accomplishment. Now that that is out of the way...
The few people I know that have a PhD, wouldn't be able to survive a day without technology. Guess that's the whole book smarts vs. street smarts thing. Buncha stupids.

Granted we didn't get a lot of snow (2-3") but I couldn't believe there was no one out sledding last night. I've taken my boys 2 or 3 times this winter and haven't seen another person or even a track. 3 different places too. Either I don't know about the secret sledding spot, or no one does that with their kids anymore.

Drinking water at work if anyone cares.

I'm sure it'll pick up again as soon as they make smartphone holders for sleds.

You can always tell whom has gone and worked in the related field and whom has been in academia their whole career.

Not all PhD I know are like this, most are very practical and do not try to get their hands on things they do not understand. However, there are always those few whom feel they know all and can do all.

My friend just completed their PhD. As much as I am happy for them, they just regurgitate what they've read or heard in class. Always has an opinion and no experience. It's annoying, that's all.

Seriously

Man, people are so afraid to get involved. Glad you're not.

Coffee and realizing that I was trying very hard to get tickets to go someplace for myself and two friends. Turns out those two friends got tickets and they were trying to get two more for some other folks. In other words, I wasn't even a thought when they were looking for tickets. I think I put a little too much stake in who I call a friend.
/butthurt over.

Yup. Friend of mine (who is 31) is dating a guy who is 41 and still in school to complete a PhD in Political Philosophy. He's a ******* bum. 41, still in school, minimal work experience, doesn't have a job, doesn't help around the house... and she's stupid too, since she wants to get married (he doesn't) and have kids (he doesn't). We're all waiting for reality to kick her in the face.

The guy won't be done his degree until he's 43. And then he'll be looking for work... as a 43-year-old, with a political philosophy degree, and very little work experience. I feel bad for him, to some extent.

On the other hand, you have different fingers.
