Would drink all of those in about 30mins time.

It's something I miss dreadfully about home. Swamping a bunch of creamy pints with my mates, talking nonsense the whole time. (A bit like this thread I suppose but less about brewing).

Nowhere in DFW can match Dublin for the quality of the pint. I suppose freshness from having the brewery on the dorrstep is a hard act to follow. No judgement so long as they make an effort to have clean lines and serve it correctly. There is the Dubliner here. Decent pint for sure but not stellar.

I've been spoiled too I guess.

Oh, you're from Ireland? Didn't know that. Yeah I can't remember any good Irish pubs when I was in DFW. Some OK ones. Normally just wound up at Saucer or Moth.

You know my thoughts on upgrading... lol.

Really though, I have a hard time believing that the footprint of the chest freezer is smaller than the rubbermaid tote.

But now I'm looking at used freezers on CL... got a 7.1 ft3 for $95. Wonder if I could get it for $70... damn you Gavin!

Thanks for the kind words about my skunky off-flavored beer to you and CAD as well.

Just glad someone on this site knows I can actually brew after this recent snafu.

There are other ways that might suit you and keep things small. I used an old kitchen cabinet, cut a hole in the side and mounted a dorm fridge to it, lined the inside with foam and put a reptile heating pad in for the dual control. Been working like a charm for me for over a year and a half now.

Stephen: If I risk my neck for you, will I get a chance to kill Englishmen?

Hamish: Is your father a ghost, or do you converse with the Almighty?

Stephen: In order to find his equal, an Irishman is forced to talk to God.

As someone with a name that starts with "Mc", I've always loved that line.

Anybody tinkering with a beer set list for the super bowl?
Just picked up a bunch of coffee forward beer, should make for a very awake day

Ireland, another place I would love to visit but probably never will. Probably for the best, I'd probably blow the whole budget the first night pounding Guinness.

McLovin?

Wont be drinking too much since I start my new job Monday, but will pick a couple from the cellar to take to the party. Havent even thought about that yet, needs to be a priority now!

I have watched that movie more times than I like to admit. I'm also fond of how fond the Irish are of themselves. Especially the fake ones.

What are you talking about? Tell me more. We've got a lot of traditions for SB weekend when my friends come up from out of state. One of which, is just spending a ridiculous amount of money on beer at our big store. It's always without a plan though.

You couldn't tell from his ridiculous accent?

Quaint is the preferred term.

I can't see your images today. Lots of likes for Psylos temperature control earlier and now this. Should I be happy, dismayed, apoplectic, disenchanted or non-plussed?

I make it a point to try at least three new beers for Superbowl Sunday. I try to pick something and cook something at the house that will pair well. This year I'm doing a cocoa nib ground rub pork butt with a sweet pineapple bbq sauce. Figured a heavy stout or coffee forward beer would work well.

Oh okay I got ya. That's a bit too fancy. We usually drink ~12 hours straight for 2-3 days in a row. There always comes a point where it doesn't matter what we're drinkin, can't feel feelings anymore and one of us almost dies from a fit of laughter.

When they get here and we go on our first big beer run though, we are pretty adventurous with our selections. Last year I started with 3 different session ipas that were great, made a horrible decision for my tastes with a pack of Monks Blood and did a boot of Down to Earth. Day 2 starts with White Russians for breakfast.

I'm hoping to incorporate food into our schedule at some point this year.

What is Superbowl?

I'll probably be watching Minions and checking the score at the end to see if I won any pools.

Its one of the only days of the year I go nuts with pairing. Almost any other time I'll just grab what I think I want at that moment, almost no thought goes into it lol

If you're ever in New Orleans, hit the Avenue Pub. More of a dive bar look than a traditional pub, but the effort they put into their beer (and whisk(e)y) program is unmatched in the Gulf South.

Whatever is cold and in the fridge.

Probably whatever is in the fridge as well. Going over to neighbors and will probably watch the 1st quarter there and then come home. Having to work on Monday puts quite a damper on Super Bowl festivities for me.

It's on the upper range for the style, true. It's also hella over carbed.

Won't be over carbed by the time you finish stirring that brown sugar in!

Just finished up a soda and now to walk the dog. Then time to figure out another way to kill some time...
