Hey Guys!

I got in my first hop bulk order with my brew club and. I managed to get away with 1# of Citra, 1# of Saaz, .5# of Centennial, .5# of Cascade for 57$.

With this abundance of hops, especially some of those famous C hops people keep talking about, what do you think I should take a shot at brewing? :D

Anyone ever here of Noble Pale Ale :p hehe?

I was thinking for the C hops, about some kind of pale ale that showcases all of the hop flavors and aromas very well. I want something that has quite a bit of residual malt sugar left over maybe around 1.018 - 1.020 ish because I prefer my hoppier beers to have quite a bit of malt to support it.

I have had arrogant bastard before and liked it quite a bit, but I noticed that most people think it used a lot of Chinook.

Just looking for ideas guys!

Thanks!

Cascade and Centennial are the basis for a lot of IPAs. Centennial Blonde is a lighter recipe and uses both.
Citra and Marris Otter make a great SMASH.
Saaz is the basis for a lot of Pilsners. How about a SMASH saaz and pilsner?

I have indeed made some great Citra and MO SMASH twice before, it is one of my favorites indeed!

How do you think saaz would turn out for an american amber ale that is pretty heavy on the crystal and special B?

So look for somethings with a killer Cascade and Centennial combo as well. What do you think about taking a malt profile like from a Pliny Clone or Arrogant Bastard and instead using those hops?

Here's a Saaz IPA for you. I brewed it and liked it quite a bit.

If you want to plow through some Citra in a hurry, you could make Zombie Dust. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f12/3-floyds-zombie-dust-attempt-help-info-requested-245456/

Otherwise, the C-hops you have can be combined any way you want in American pales, ambers and IPAs, and the Saaz are used frequently in Belgian beers and the pilsners mentioned above. But there's no reason you can't experiment.

Your C hops are my favorite combo and apart of easily my best IPA recipe. I'd bitter with the centennial then just use a blend of the 3 for late additions

So, here is what it's looking like is on deck!

1.Zombie Dust Clone

2.An American Amber I designed here:

Recipe Specs
Original Gravity--Final Gravity---Colour (SRM)---Bitterness--Alcohol by Volume
1.053-----------1.013----------23.5-----------28.0 IBU---5.2%

Brewhouse Specs

All Grain----------22.7 Litres / 6.0 Gal----60.0 min----70.0%

Fermentables
Name-------------Type-----SRM-----Percentage----Amount
Maris Otter Malt---Grain-----4.0------64.00 % ------3.63 Kg / 8.00 Lbs
Carapils (Dextrine)-Grain-----1.0------12.00 % ------0.68 Kg / 1.50 Lbs
Crystal 40---------Grain-----40.0-----8.00 %--------0.45 Kg / 1.00 Lbs
Crystal 80---------Grain-----80.0-----8.00 %--------0.45 Kg / 1.00 Lbs
Special-B----------Grain-----180.0 ---8.00 %--------0.45 Kg / 1.00 Lbs

Hops
Name--AA%------Amount----------------Use Time
Perle---6.0%-----28.35 g / 1.00 oz Boil---60 mins
Perle---6.0%-----14.17 g / 0.50 oz Boil---25 mins
Perle---6.0%-----14.17 g / 0.50 oz Boil---1 mins

Yeast
Name------------Attenuation
Safale US-05-----75 %

I will substitute the Perle with either saaz, or I might go for a lot of flavor addition of citra with a small bittering addition instead.

Then since my hop craving should be settled for a time,

3. Oktoberfest

4. Dopplebock

Well, that is what it's looking like for me. Thanks for the advice guys!
