    IPAngus

The idea for this IPA started with a trip to Elliot Bay in West Seattle, were I tried the Hop Von Borian (IPA), which resulted from Elliot Bay's experimentation with Belgian yeast in other beer styles. I then decided to try out the "hop bursting" technique. I just kegged this and so far, I'm...

Sanke False Bottom - What's the *$#&#@% secret?!?

Ok, I'm brewing my second batch on my newly built Brutus type scuplture. BOTH batches, I'm having issues circulating my mash. Details: 1) Pump IS primed, it was pumping fine, then just came to a trickle, then nothing. 2) I DO have a hose clamp "pushing" the falsebottom down in the bottom...

    Wiring Problem

So, I got my brewstand all wired up tonight. :rockin: Then, I plug it in, and flip the main power switch. My indicator light lights up. Then I flip a power switch to one of the pumps to see if it works... it doesn't. Neither does the other... The temp controllers have no power either...

    Nitro Tap...

Is probably the greatest Ebay/homebrewing investment I've made to date!!!! I have Caramel Cream Ale on nitro right now, and... wow. It makes the beer sooo good. Only negative side that I see is that it goes down WAY too easily. Couple that with a stop at the Beveridge Place Pub's...

    Black IPA Recipe help

Last night I was at Brouwer's Cafe in Seattle, and had a glass of what was labeled "Rogue Black IPA." I really like this beer and went looking for some information about it this morning online and couldn't find it anywhere. I called the bar to find out more about it and they said that the keg...

    Optimum length for CFC?

So I've searched through a whole bunch of past threads about CFC's trying to determine what the optimum length for one is. I've seen people say 25' with partial flow (to decrease the amount of cooling). Here's the deal, I ordered a venture and have decided to turn my immersion chiller into...

    Need step drills??

Hey guys, I'm not connected to Harbour Freight in any way whatsoever, but I know that people are always mentioning on here how expensive step drills are (and they usually are). I came across this deal at Harbour Freight and figured I'd pass it on after I ordered some :rockin...

    1/2 Barrell Uses???

Ok guys, I know that the standard answer here will be to make a keggle, but SWMBO just bought me an 8 gal SS kettle for my birthday last month, and my friend just dropped off a Sanke keg at my house yesterday afternoon. He had offered it to me quite a while ago, well before I got the kettle...

    Dead Sanyo 4911M?

Well, about a month ago, I bought a Sanyo 4911M off of craigslist for $75 and thought I had a great deal for my kegerator. I waited until last week to plug it in since my tower came then and I was going to put it all together over Christmas. After like 4-5 days of being plugged in, it hasn't...

    Starter Problem....

So, after reading how great everyone's fermentation is when they make starters, I smacked my smack pack on Wednesday evening. Thursday night after work, I took my expanded smack pack, made a starter based on the "Starter FAQ" thread here. I did the following: 2.5 cups of water 3/4 cup of...

Sanyo 4912 with a Freezer -- Is it tall enough?

As my subject says, is the interior height of the Sanyo 4912 (with a freezer compartment) tall enough to fit a corny keg in with connections? It seems that the only fridges I come across on craigslist have freezer compartments... However, this one is just $85 (vs. the new price) so I'd be...

    Falling Krausen

Ok, so I brewed last Sunday, and my wheat brew has been in my primary carboy since then. The airlock activity has now slowed down to about 2 bubbles per minute. I've been searching through threads about when to rack to secondary, and keep reading that I need to wait for the krausen to fall...

    Possible kegerator fridge found?

Hey everybody that's made a kegerator.... Search on craigslist just now, I found the following fridge. http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/for/232944411.html It is a 4.9 cubic foot fridge, but does have a freezer in the top (not sure if I could take it out or not), but I emailed the guy and...

    How warm is too warm?

I got my first batch going yesterday (a cherry wheat kit from Midwest). Today, the airlock is bubbling away, but the temperature has increased from a steady 69 degrees to about 72-73 degrees. At what temperature do I need to make sure it doesn't get any warmer? I've turned down the heat to...

    Newbie in Seattle

Back in college, my roommate and I started brewing with a Mr. Beer... I've been wanting to try brewing again, but this time go with an actual kit instead of the Mr. Beer. I'm going to be buying a starter kit within th enext week or two and get to work. I'm sure I'll have some questions...
