    Top sludge in my stout

Dang... thanks for the reply Bellybuster, I took readings 3 times in 2 weeks with no changes. So I assumed that it was finished, I will open a bottle in the weekend to measure the level carbonation.

    Top sludge in my stout

Need some help and/or opinions about this stuff in my Scottish Stout; So I went rogue with this recipe and mix some stuff that maybe it was too much. I tasted the beer and it was ok, the cocoa is definitely there in taste with good mouthfeel without being too harsh, a little bit acidic, maybe...

    Ameri-English recipe, opinions and advice!

Hello! I'm a BIAB brewer but I just build my mash tun to keep complicating and feeding this addiction. So what happened was, I'm kinda drunk and I was playing with my inventory on brewersfriend.com and the following recipe came out! Please let me know how it looks or if do you have some pointers...

    What's in your fermenter(s)?

This, how is it looks like? Bottling this weekend! BTW the og was a little bit lower (1.060)so I think the dry yeast should make it with no problems.

Quick question regarding DME on yeast

Hello everybody, quick question about an issue I stupidly did not consider yesterday, until now... I brewed yesterday and my dry yeast was ready on the vial just before pitching it into my wort and then I saw just a little bit of DME extract lying in one plastic bag, I gathered about a 1oz...

Question, transfer from cooler to kettle...

Thanks for your replies, well, I'm glad I posted before doing it... Is a 2.5 gal batch, according to http://pricelessbrewing.github.io/BiabCalc/ Total water needed - 4.41 Gallons Strike temp - 159.11 F But you are right texas, I haven't count on that detail, and it makes sense. I will keep...

Question, transfer from cooler to kettle...

So.. today will be my first BIAB brew, I think I have all he goodies ready: grains, kettle, bag and... a cooler. Considering the size of my kettle (4 gal) I opted to mash in a cooler. This is my plan: - Heat water on the kettle - Once reaching the temp (160F approx) pour the water into the...

    2 - 2.5 Gal batch - BIAB

Awesome, I'm feeling more confident about my kettle now. After some reading I think 3.7 - 4 gal to start mash will be more than sufficent. My main question was about the volume of water on the kettle plus the amount of grain, solid video C-rider! Mmm in fact the cooler seems a better idea, also...

    2 - 2.5 Gal batch - BIAB

Thanks for your reply phyllobeddo, then I think I should do that to avoid boil overs, start with 3 - 3.5 gal of water, mash with 5.5 lb of grain and sparge with gallon at the end of the mash out to complete the batch. Should I have good efficiency with this method? I´ll try to do a flame out...
