Hey Robegero, I am moving to Henderson. Is there a local home brew club?

    Moving to Las Vegas, Nevada

I will be moving out to Nevada in a couple months and I was wondering what the craft beer scene was like? Also, are their home brew stores in Las Vegas?

Thanks guys! I am really excited for my Blonde Ale I brewed up. I changed the hops to make it spicier so it should be interesting

    Officially a homebrewer!

Hey everyone! It's been 6 weeks since I brewed my first beer, an Irish Red Ale, and I have been patient long enough. I decided to crack one open today to see if it was carbonated. To my surprise, it was perfectly carbonated and tasted great! I think I will drink a few this weekend but I think...

    When to Bottle

First, I am well aware of the discussion concerning primary vs secondary fermentation. Personally, I rack all my beers to a secondary. I have seen real improvement in the quality of my beer. However, it is important to point out that if you are going to use secondary fermentation then you need...

    Brewery names--what's your story?

I am calling mine, Pier 60 Brewing. Pier 60 is a Pier in Clearwater, FL where I spent most of my life. It reminds me of the easy going times where I didn't have to worry about anything. www.pier60brewing.tumblr.com www.facebook.com/pier60brewing

    OK to transfer?

I agree! If you are going to transfer the beer to a secondary, take a clean/sanitized hydrometer reading on consecutive days to see if it has stopped fermenting.

    Air lock bubbles?

Are you using a liquid or dry yeast? Liquid yeast can take up to 48-72 hours to get started.

    Aeration

How long do you leave the aerator in the wort Revy?

Kick in the Mouth - Irish Red

It could be due to oxygen?

Is too much leftover Star San bad?

I love having foam in my carboy. It continues to sanitize the carboy as it is being filled with beer! :ban:

Secondary Fermentation - Irish Red Ale

Thanks! Yeah I racked after a week in the primary. My FG stayed consistent (multiple measurements on consecutive days) at 1.010.

Secondary Fermentation - Irish Red Ale

Hey everyone! I recently racked my first beer (Irish Red Ale) to a secondary. Everything went fine during the transfer but I noticed that there is a lot of head space (approximately 1 gallon) in the carboy. In the instructions from Midwest they recommend transferring to a secondary but don't...

    New Midwest Home Brewer

Thanks! I am a huge stout guy! I am either going to make a stout or Blonde Ale next depending on which fall into the fermentation range of my apartment (Avg. 72 F).

    New Midwest Home Brewer

Hey everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself. I recently got into home brewing after about a year of thinking/researching about it. I just brewed my first batch (Midwest - Irish Red Ale) which is currently sitting in the secondary. If you are curious to learn more about my home brewing...
