I was going to PM you with a swap idea but since it's now going on in the thread I submit this idea for the January swap:

Brewery Pride Swap

Share an entire local brewery line (or 1/2 the swap total whatever size it is deemed) from the brewery closest to you that is your favorite. The other half of the trade would be local only beers and minimum one homebrew. I added this because I regret not sending one to AbsolutHamm in my trade. :(

Obviously the idea is subject to interpretation and revision. Thoughts?

This sounds like a great idea. Wont be able to get in on the December swap but for sure the next one after that.

a small sour only swap? If its potentially small and low participation...why not go sour too?

Just my 2c

Maybe I could start another swap thread for a Secret Santa Sour Swap. Would anyone be interested in a small variant on the swap-o-rama?

Not trying to step on the toes of TheMan or diminish the swap-o-rama in any way, but it seems there is a small contingent willing to do a sour swap but the idea is too niche for inclusion in the official swap-o--rama.

I am not bothered by that at all. Feel free to arrange that as you like! I think a sour round would be awesome. But collecting 20-25 members (what ive aimed for each round) to participate sounds a bit tough. So a smaller sour focused swap would scratch some itches for sure haha.

Heck, I hope you can prove me wrong and get 20 people to join in!

I myself can only think of the few berliner weiss beers from pipeworks that are local but not around anymore...wish I could join a sour one lol

I don't think the sour round needs to be local as much as not distributed to the target. That would be my aim. I would love a sour round but can't really ship anymore until January.

Yeah, but the rest of the sours are covered under Shelton brothers. Just about every state gets their distribution.

At least, I dont know of any other sours I can get besides that.

Yeah, I would like to do something with a few bottles of local (or regional) sours, and maybe throw in another bottle that you a partial to that might be a wider distribution. But I wouldn't necessarily limit it to that. I don't buy a ton of sours because they are cost prohibitive and I have to drive to the few stores in town that will have them. So, even if I got a couple Jolly Pumpkins that I can buy in Ohio, I would be happy.

DrPhunk this an amazing box!!! Thank you so much! I'll post the breakdown in a few but for now here's the beer porn!

Now to start digging into those IPA's.

Wow, so many awesome packages this round. Everybody really stepped their game up. It seems like the packages just keep getting bigger after every round. Makes me excited for the next one.

DrPhunk I can't thank you enough. Which one should I crack first? Such a good dilemma to have. :)

Oh man, had my last of the antiheros I got from TallDan the other night. Such a tasty brew

Meant to tell you, similar to what DrPhunk said, the Zombie Dust I sent should definitely be consumed soon. It's not OLD, but it's not fresh either. Mine would definitely be gone if i wasn't holding a couple back to taste side by side with the batch of clone that's now crash cooling.

Stands up to the best of them in my opinion.

That anti-hero is solid! Wish we got revolution this far west... I had a local hero the other day and that was awesome!

No worries, already had 1, and the other is in the fridge ;)

Damn this Zombie Dust is good. I love grapefruit and this baby sings of it.

Indeed! Glad you're enjoying it!

I'm enjoying a few non-swap beers since I am still without mine :(

I would get in on this if it happened.

After the snafu with your box in this, the time it took for someone to grant your MAW, and the amazing MAW box you sent me, you have some top notch beer karma coming your way!

Glad you like them. You deserve it after having a breakage and reshipping on your end. Killed me to have to wait to send that box out. I think I had it ready at least 3 weeks before I shipped it. The lady at the Fed Store I dropped it off at also didn't want to touch it. She made me go behind the counter to put it exactly where the pick person takes it from. Glad the box held up to that kind of weight.

Yeah sorry I stole that idea from you. Had no idea what to send for extras since I only went to one real brewery and they didn't have any glasses or stuff for sale there. It's more of a brewpub restaurant.

I try to send issues of Philly Beer Weekly with my boxes or something along that line. One day I'll figure a way to package a cheese steak to send along lol. What really sucks is my favorite go to brewery, River Horse, moved to northern NJ. I miss it. We still have others but their triple is just the tits IMO

Also...which Iron Hill did you get that stout from?

Drink the Zombie Dust 1st! It's best fresh and it's currently a couple weeks old.

Enjoy!

How hard is Zombie Dust to get if you live in Indiana? Is this someone that only makes it tot he store occasionally and is snatched up in a few hours?

I got it from Voorhees, but I think they all would have it. it's actually one tap at Voorhees now. Just had it the other day and got a growler of it for another trade. It was pretty good. Tasted like you are having desert.

My homebrew club meets monthly at the Maple Shade location so I can always pick up a bottle for you if you want and hand it to you because we both work in center city.

I keep forgetting that lol. I should really look into joining a club. The trouble is with a six month old its hard finding any time. I've put off bottling this quad since august. Its just hang out...getting older. Did you check out any of those bottle shops I was talking about? The workers at Monde market promised to hold me some stuff next week and I'm really hoping they pull through for me.

I think it's pretty tough and not much of it gets out to stores. I know it sells out at the brewery the same day it gets releases. I live 2-1/2 hrs away from the brewery and they don't distribute here so I watch the Facebook page and hop in the car when I see it...

You should look at the Philly Homebrew Club, I think they are near where you live. I just did a rib competition with them last month. Our club does some activities with them. I know what you mean having no time with kids. I;ve got two. Wife doesn't like it too much when I take 7 hours to brew. Our club meets once a month usually only from like 7-9 pm.

I do want to go to Monde and Corner Deli just haven't had a chance yet. I have been to the Foodery a couple times. I just found a place called Northern Liberties Beer that i was going to go to today.

Not sure if you do any of the festivals, but IMO the Craft Beer Festival in March is probably my all time favorite. Next year it will be on March 1st, general admission is 45.00 and VIP is 75.00. Last year Jester King was there at the VIP only session pouring rares.
Soooo yea, I'm doing VIP this year lol
