Just pitched the yeast on an Irish Red Ale OG of 1.052 wanted to know if I can add Oak soaked in rum or Jameson. When should I add it and should I transfer to a secondary or just keep it in primary.

I usually use about 3 ounces of oak chips in a couple jiggers of liquor in an airtight container in the fridge during primary. Then pour all through a sanitized hop sock into secondary. Tie it off & drop in, racking the beer onto it. I give it a week then try it to see if it's where I want it.
