I bottled my first batch- a Red Ale this past weekend. I realize that I had added a gallon of water or so more than I should have. My idea is that I created a lighter flavor and lower alcohol content beer. Is it ruined?

Did you boil and deaerate the water before adding it to the brew?

Adding regular water not deaerated will cause your beer to go stale quicker than if were left alone.

I boiled the wort, and added water to what I thought was the 5 gallon mark; which ended up being about 6 gallons. How about alcohol or flavor?

Thats not necessarily true unless you add it after fermentation is finished. If you top off with tap water after the boil, removing oxygen isn't necessary since you have to aerate anyways.
