I am brewing a SF Pale Ale and I have had two blowouts of my carboy and krausen went all over the place. I believe I have lost about a gallon of liquid. I have to add the final dose of hops tomorrow, can I also add more water? Should I wait a few more days? I have to transfer my beer to a secondary fermenter in about a week, should I wait to add more water then? Thanks

I wouldn't add more water. As painful as it may be to lose beer through spillage, you will not like a watered-down beer.

Between now and your next beer, make plans for using a blowoff tube. And, welcome to the "I had to mop beer off the ceiling" club!

Cheers!

The take home lesson is this:

Always use a blow off tube. Every time. Every beeer. Always. Really....

Pez.

EDIT- Frazier gave you excellent advice.
