So, most homebrewers are pretty handy people, so I thought I'd propose this to you guys.

I have 6-8 large coil springs left over from cars (as any true car guy would) and would like to build something out of them (brewing related or not)

So, any ideas? The obvious ones are stools, but anybody got anything else. I have some from an SUV and some from smaller cars. The largest ones are about the size of the ones on the right in the picture below.

These, but bigger and cooler:

Absolutely!

If you have kids, make a couple lawn toys and they'll have a blast. :ban:

Alternately, you could sell 'em. Lots of folks still cut springs to lower their cars, and having a spare set always makes it easier when they find out they cut too many coils off and they're "laying frame" by accident. ;)

8 railroad ties. 2 iron plates. Build a rectangular box out of 4 and 1 plate.
Weld little spring to big spring.
Weld a stout rod to either side of little spring at the end.
Cut slot in box. Leave wood at end. Reinforce that bit with steel or iron.
Put contraption in box, big spring first.
Mount to truck bed.
Get bowling balls.
See LGI at bird feeder.
Makes two.
