Okay, so after buying a 1-liter starter kit, I've been sold on the benefits of a 2-liter starter plus stir plate. Can anyone recommend a stir plate that doesn't transfer much heat, is high quality, and is compatible with a 2 liter flask? Reasonably priced is a benefit as well.

Regards,

JJ

You can find some deals on ebay, but it's hard to tell which models might generate heat. DIY is really not that tough, costs very little, and gives you a "Hey I made that" sense of accomplishment.

Details on my build here: Onebeer.net :: Homebrew :: Stirplate

Works great with a 2L flask.

Oh wow that's awesome. I didn't think one could be home built that didn't kick tons of heat. Imma go get me some fans and magnets!

EDIT: What size stir-bar do you use?
