Idophor ... Wort tastes like butt

Like I previously stated I've used it for a very long time and never had this issue, and even mentioned a taste threshold test that I read indicating that this is not an issue at the recommended strengths. edit: I found the taste threshold test I read way back...

    You know its September when...

All this excitement and you don't even tell us what it is!? Just kegged a stout the other day, had been craving a stout for some reason even though I'm not much of a seasonal-type drinker. Can't wait for hoodie weather to really kick in.

    Unrealstic Expectations....

I think certain homebrewers suffer from a lot of this, especially considering a lot of homebrewers started drinking those interesting styles that the commercial brewers made which is what got them considering brewing to begin with. Often, they don't realize what the different inputs do for the...

Idophor ... Wort tastes like butt

I'm not saying it will damage your stainless and with as popular as it is I assume it's not much of an issue unless you leave it sitting in there for an extended time (though I find it troubling that some sites sell it noting that it will not damage stainless). It also won't discolor your pastic...

Idophor ... Wort tastes like butt

Been using it as my only sanitizer for 11 years and never had a single issue. I remember many years back reading an article someone wrote about taste threshold with differing levels of iodophor in beer. The titrated differing amounts into a beer to determine where you'd get any off flavor. The...

Isobaric bottle fillers? How do they work?

You should probably post this on www.probrewer.com since most people here are homebrewing and not processing 6000 bottles a month. That said, other than probrewer I would personally contact a manufacturer who can tell you a lot more about the systems and their pros/cons. Good luck.

    smartphone beer apps

Oh, right I did forget to mention the calculators. I use the various calculators in there all the time. Love the cloud features but I wish I could set up my own server to use for it.

    smartphone beer apps

I use Beersmith for my recipe design, so when it came out I bought the mobile version. While I could use it more I usually only use it at the store to get my ingredients or to double check #'s on a brew day typically. Oh, and to enter in my SG, FG etc if I'm away from the desktop.

Worst Homebrewing Mistakes - HBT Article

Do NOT stand close to your turkey fryer burner on full blast while wearing corduroy or other flammable type material pants. Easy to do on a cold brew day, or while checking the floating thermometer or adding hops to the kettle. Said pants WILL catch fire, and you will quickly be drawn back to...

    Keggle use

Keep in mind if considering using one as a mash tun that they are quite a bit smaller than most of the coolers and that could limit some higher gravity beers if doing 10 gallons. I still use my 70qt cooler that gives me a bit of additional headspace on the 10 gallon batches we do.

I love me a nonick, imperial pint glass.

What I did for beer today

Well, after 11 years of brewing with gravity today I set up a pump system. All leak tested and ready to be broken in tomorrow, brewing a stout. Pump cart doubles as my mobile RO water filter as well, which is mounted to the other side. Parts Old Setup New setup

    pH meter storage

That does seem to be quite a bit of storage solution... I leave the rest of mine in the bottle so it all doesn't evaporate at once.

    pH meter storage

Always happens with my ph meter as well, but mine is an oakton which has a small cap that you fill to cover the probe. I just replace it fairly often. That stuff just likes to dry up, it's a common problem just rinse it off.

    Funnel/filter problem

Been using the filter funnels for years, we just tap on the side when it gets clogged up and it starts flowing again. Typically I attach it to the side of the brew buckets we use with a spring clamp and let it go, then when it clogs (typically only on hoppy beers) tap it a few times and it...

    New guy with etiquette questions

I'll add, unless you are brewing 10 gallon batches without a pump or gravity burner stand for your kettle.
