Can seamer for sealing beer cans?

Would an old-school can seamer work for sealing beer cans? It looks like people have used hand-crank can seamers for "canning." I'm wondering why one of these couldn't be used to seal beer cans.

    DIY Roaster

Hey all, I'm looking for a good DIY plan for a coffee roaster. I don't want the popcorn, etc., kind. I built a semi-automated, all-electric, HERMS brew rig, so the DIY piece is just for fun. I also want to brew a pound of beans at a time and to be able to get a very, very dark roast. Any...

    Re Fermetation Temp Control?

I would like to control the temps (heating and cooling) on a fermentation chamber automatically. I know it's possible to change manually from heating to cooling, but is there a way to have a heater and cooler hooked up and then have some device that will automatically switch to heating or...

    Re: Source for Stainless Mesh

Hey all, I've searched for "stainless mesh" and found a few threads. I'm looking for the best source (meaning least expensive). While Grainger and McMaster Carr are sources, are there others? And, for what exactly am I looking? I want to make a stainless hop spider for the BK, something...

Re: Help with Grainger PT100, Auber PID, and 3-pin XLR

How do I wire a Grainger (Dwyer) PT100 RTD to my Auber PID? I'm using a 3-pin XLR. The Grainger PT100 only has two wires. So, what do I do with a 3-pin XLR and a 2-wire PT100? I recall something about using jumpers on the Auber PID, but I'm curious if anybody can confirm the proper wiring...

Re: Need Help with DIY Grain Mill

I've been searching for plans for a grain mill build (I searched the forum but haven't found what I'm looking for). I have two rollers and now have access to a full machine shop. So, I want to build the housing with adjustable gap setting for the rollers. Does anybody have CAD or similar...

Keggle, Step Bit, and Burned Metal

Okay, so I used a Harbor Freight step bit to get a 1 1/4" hole in my keg for an element. I can't get the hole bigger than 1" and the bit started burning the stainless, even with plenty of lubricant (WD-40). So, is there any way other than a punch to get the hole bigger? I was ready to buy...

    Help Identify this March Pump

I'm trying to identify a March pump that I have. From everything I can tell, it looks like an 809 model. I have an 809 model for high temps, food grade, etc., and it looks almost identical. I did a search online but didn't come with anything definitive. I've included several photos. Any...

Will this fitting work for a bottom drain on a keg?

I'm curious if anybody may be able to tell if the following tri-clover/sanitary fitting will work with a keg with a bottom drain. See the link an Ebay seller: http://www.ebay.com/itm/271097558798?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Thoughts?

Re: Bottom Drains - Worth It?

Okay, I'm converting everything over to electric (e-HERMS). I just scored three "new" kegs, which I'll convert over to keggles. So, should I go with bottom drains? Is it worth it? I see that Bobby M has a bottom drain package, so it seems easy enough. But is it worth the extra money and effort...

Re: Yet another question about fuses - help!

I have another basic question. I ended up with some Bussmann fuse holders. I'm working on getting the fuses for one of PJ's diagrams that calls for 1 amp fuses (and one 10 amp fuse for pumps) for the PID, etc. Given the Bussmann fuse holder, I found this Bussman 1 amp fuse...

Question about fuses with PJ's diagrams

Okay, this could be a dumb questios. But, I'm using one of PJ's diagrams. It looks like he suggests using a 1 amp fuse in several places along the writing route. But, to my mind, a 1 amp fuse would blow constantly given that pumps, etc., are going to use over 1 amp. If so, does the "1" in...

From Power Cord to What in the Control Panel?

Okay, I'm confused on a major part of the control panel build. I'll be hard wiring a Xerox cord - the one with GFI built into it - to my control panel, so from dryer outlet to control panel. Once to the control panel, do the four wires hook up first to terminal strips/blocks and then from...
