Hey all, I'm looking for a good DIY plan for a coffee roaster. I don't want the popcorn, etc., kind. I built a semi-automated, all-electric, HERMS brew rig, so the DIY piece is just for fun. I also want to brew a pound of beans at a time and to be able to get a very, very dark roast. Any thoughts?

Google SC/TC roaster. It stands for Stir Crazy/Turbo Oven.

It can do a pound at a time and works really well. Lots of builds on the web. The jist of is cutting the heating power to the S/C and augmenting the stirring arms for improved bean agitation/even roasting. The turbo oven will roast the beans via convection and power can be throttled to control the roast.

I do hope you step away from the dark side someday. Lots of great flavors you're missing out on.

With home roasting, my hope is to move away from the dark side. I'll take a look at the roaster you listed. Thanks!
