    moving to a plate chiller

Sold my plate chiller, bought a Jaded King Cobra. Ditched my pump and simplified my life with BIAB after building an overly complicated 2 vessel setup and I don't plan on going back. PC was a PITA!

    What are you drinking now?

Long n short, leak in my keg setup I haven't been able to track down...yet! So lines were disconnected from a 1/4 full corny of a wheat & rye IPA a couple of months ago. Just tossed it back on gas and it's not great, but it ain't bad either [emoji482]

Win Free Yeast for a Year

Sweet! My LHBS only stocks White Labs (small shop, sooooo happy they're here!) so I haven't been able to try Imperial yet

    Silicone Blowoff Tube for Carboy

Help me brew a phenomenal sour to celebrate my sour loving buddy's wedding!

My friends have dubbed this Dead Frog cherry sour and I got a chance to taste it carbed and cold at the homebrew club Christmas party. Let's just say it didn't last long and I got a lot of positive feedback from some pretty experienced Brewers, home and commercial! I thought it was really good...

Help me brew a phenomenal sour to celebrate my sour loving buddy's wedding!

Been a while since I've updated. Can I just say I F'n HATE de-labeling and cleaning bottles! It has now been over 8 months since I started this sour adventure. The cherry version is pretty awesome, the raspberry and (previously) unfruited versions are pretty meh. Our homebrew club had the...

I need a good (but not too good) whiskey for my Imperial Stout

Lived in Texas for 22 years, I forget about that one!

    Warm Fermented Lager Thread

My Anti-Altbier (supposed to be an ale fermented at lager temps, I made it with a lager yeast fermented at ale temps [emoji16]) is doing just fine. The starters just took a while to get going but last I checked the 34/70 had taken it from 1060 to about 1016. Much higher finishing gravity than I...

I need a good (but not too good) whiskey for my Imperial Stout

And while we're throwing out liquor bottle vernacular, those big 1.75L bottles are known as a "handle"...give you 3 guesses as to why and the first 2 don't count! Sent from my Pixel 2 using Home Brew mobile app

I need a good (but not too good) whiskey for my Imperial Stout

Weller's is very good, inexpensive wheated bourbon made by the same folks that make Buffalo Trace and in the same class of bourbon as Maker's Mark. That's what I used for my Bourbon Barrel Coffee Pale and still have an oak spiral soaking in some now Sent from my Pixel 2 using Home Brew mobile app

    What are you drinking now?

Compared my Kolsch to two of the best commercial examples out there. Of the three the 8 Second is the best representation of the style, the Colorado Kolsch from Steamworks is very good but ahas a little corn in the flavor that isn't off-putting on its own but when compared directly is not as...

What book is on your nightstand? Readers!

Loved the show, great price on the Kindle edition so I grabbed it. Most interesting change so far is the hotel AI... Altered Carbon (Takeshi Kovacs Novels Book 1) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000FBFMZ2/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20

Fair enough! Should've read more closely.

    Bag type?

Yep... Yep... Yep!!! Why? Just curious as to your reasoning/ source of info. In my experience (brewing almost 10 years, about half of that BIAB) it didn't make any difference in my beers when I spent a lot of time and energy trying to separate kettle trub from wort. It all goes into the...

    Warm Fermented Lager Thread

I looked at 036 and while I am brewing Denny's recipe and I am making an Altbier, I don't like sweet beers. And I'd use 1450 in a heartbeat if it was an option! 810 might be perfect. I'm getting a few tiny bubbles in my starter so maybe it just needed a little more time

    Warm Fermented Lager Thread

It looks like the 34/70 I saved is not viable--tossed into starter wort 24 hours ago and I'm getting nada. My LHBS only carries s23 dry and only White Labs liquid. I'm not a fan of 23 so what White Labs strain would y'all recommend? Brewing up Denny's First Alt at the club group brew today
