Sooooo... What'd you get for Christmas?

3 gal keg, also a couple of tap kits. Debating whether or not to install or keep the picnic tap. New fridge and I am hesitant to drill a hole in the door!

Vorlauf getting clogged with brew bag

Mine is only raised while draining the wort, otherwise it sits in water the whole time.

Vorlauf getting clogged with brew bag

I don't usually have a problem while the bag is raised. It does make for an easier cleanup!

Vorlauf getting clogged with brew bag

I use a bag in my mash tun and have to keep it elevated off the spout so it can drain or it will get sucked into the valve. I use a bungee cord wrapped around the cooler and bag and that with the lid keeps it elevated.

So do you think my beer will be OK?

Funny thing happened while brewing yesterday. I was in the process of cooling off my wort and use a small pot holder to move the chiller up and down occassionally to speed up the process. I started doing some cleanup and kept wondering where it had gone. I blew it off thining i misplaced it...

    What's your fermentation MO?

I have been doing the same however I just finished a Oktoberfest(fast) using Safale 05. After 3-4 days I didn't notice any activity so I let it sit a full week, took a measurement and it had finished. I transferred to keg and put it in fridge. Will hook it up to co2 tonight. It will probably...

    AG using a bag

I use a bag in my 5 gallon drink cooler with a valve. I use a bungee cord around the cooler to hold the bag up just off the bottom and it keeps it from getting sucked into the valve.

How much fizz should i get from 2.2vol of CO2?

The regulator is spot on, check pressure in keg and it read exactly what the gauge was set at. I upped to 12psi, let sit for a few days and already notice a difference. Guess for the temp of my fridge 10psi was a little low, 12psi seems to be a good setting. Thanks for the help!

How much fizz should i get from 2.2vol of CO2?

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong. It's not flat but compared to commercial brews it seems that way. Not sure I really tried a British ale to compare the fizz but @ 2.2vol compared to beers like sierra nevada and sweetwater 420 it just seems flatter to me. What approx...

How much fizz should i get from 2.2vol of CO2?

I am kegging an ale and have my regulator set @ 10psi, fridge temp between 35-40deg. It has been on pressure for close to 3 weeks and I cannot detect any difference in carbonation since 1st week. Seems flat to me but I may be expecting more fizz than 2.2vol gives. I don't notice a lot of...

Brew Out Front or Out Back?

I brew in my backyard as well and would like to store my equipment outside but I am concerned about humidity, dirt and critters. Do you have any of these issues keeping everything outside? Do you keep carboys, bottling buckets etc outside as well? How do you store everything?
