    Hello from the PNW

Welcome also from the PNW, Southern Oregon here. Great group of folks on here, I am always amazed the the wealth of knowledge here. From your screen name are you a bag piper? I used to play in a small street band in Oregon. Never got great but I could follow the band in most of the sets. :mug:

    Crooked mechanics

Friend of mine took his van in for tires to a west coast tire chain that will remain unnamed. They pulled apart the front brakes and suspension for "inspection....this is policy" and said he would have to have several thousand dollars of work done. He told them to put it back together and he...

Setting up a Homebrew in Israel

Very cool, good to see homebrewing is alive and well in Israel. I have been over there a couple times for work. Wonderful people, great food, beautiful women. It is a great country. Sampled a few of the local brews in Tel Aviv but I sure can't remember what ones they were. Thanks for posting...

Men: Getting snipped. Yay or nay?

I got snipped 25 years ago or so. Done on a Friday and was back to work stacking lumber at the mill on Monday. No ill effects, no complications, spent Friday and Saturday on the recliner with frozen peas on my junk. Had it done in my family Doc's office. I still remember him whistling "Take Me...

    Clarifying in the Keg

I force carb so I am sure my technique will give a but different results. But I run my keezer at about 34deg F as the wife and I like our beer on the very cold side. This puts me close to cold crash temps, add a half package of gelatin to the keg when ready to go in the keezer. By the time they...

    I like it. Great idea!

Gas lines & John Guest fittings

I am using 8mm poly tubing with John Guest fittings for the gas side of my keezer. Works well, no leaks. Had a surplus of both from work, same thing we use to plumb compressed air to the printing presses.

    STC-1000 long probe cable length

So not an STC 1000 but similar. I used this on my keezer build http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F05UI8O/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 Temp probe leads were too short for the placement I wanted so I added a couple feet of "Alpha Wire" (high quality stranded cable) and tested against an...

Harbor Freight Tools -- What works? and What doesn't?

I had one of those and wore it out in pretty short order. Tossed it and bought a Hitachi. On the flip side I have the HF 1/4" crown stapler and it has been going strong for years. Funny how hit and miss the longevity of the same item can vary.

    Beer and guns

Oh the good old days of cheap ammo and a decent machine shop to build toys with. I used to be a Class III dealer, did a lot of reloading and had a bunch of guns. After divorce, a marriage and several moves I have sold off most of everything including the reloading gear. Ammo and components...

Oxy/Acetylene Spud Cannon... labor day madness

Usually just used cans full of rocks, tennis balls and water bottles worked well too. That's back when I was drinking BMC beers (although I am now ashamed to admit it). :)

Oxy/Acetylene Spud Cannon... labor day madness

Black powder can be fun too. This is a beer can mortar that I built years ago. Lots of fun with the boy and always a crowd pleaser at the shooting range.

Oxy/Acetylene Spud Cannon... labor day madness

Not considered a DD by ATF. No rifling, fixed breach and not firing from a fixed cartridge although local/state laws may vary.

    Yet another keezer build

Turned out fine, smooth and glossy, no severe runs, used 2 cans of Ace store brand appliance paint, was the only black appliance paint I could find locally (I live in a small remote town). I have found the Ace spray paint to be a bit hit or miss so your milage may vary. :mug:

    Yet another keezer build

Finally got some pics taken of my latest project. Almost finished, need drip trays, finish the wood on the collar and to refine refine the CO2 system. Started with a small Haier chest freezer that we hadn't been using for some time, SWMBO gave me the go ahead to convert. Collar from...

orange peel and coriander in an IPA??

Chainbreaker is one of my favorite go to bottled beers! Once I get a bit better at homebrewing I am hoping to try a clone.

    Hey, from middle California

We do have some great camping spots! I think my fave local brew is Chetco Brewing. I do knock back a bit of their Thunder Rock IPA. They finally opened a tap room in town too :)
