Pilsner Urquell

Yuengling light is surprisingly worth whatever hype may exist around it. It's a go-to ultra light beer, by American craft beer standards.

Sitting on this barleywine for over a year when I realized I was in the mood for a barleywine and a salami/American cheese sandwich [EDIT: picture]

A mix & match 6 pack of untested American craft beers and all 6 were truly fantastic. A milk stout, APA, IPA, witbier, amber lager, and nut brown ale.

Hofbrau Dunkel, Weihenstaphaner Pilsner, a couple mediocre American craft brews and one great one (Great Lakes Pale Ale)

Really fantastic. These Smuttynose's are two of the best beers I've had all year.

Really really good. Bottled in 2013 it says.

Glorious Maibock and Black IPA

A little bit of heaven on earth

Hofbrau Maibock. I get this and just one other example of the style distributed here every Spring in a pretty good sized brewing city.

Thirsty Dog Irish Setter Red

This one is a sipper. I've had buttered popcorn, salame, and cigarettes to compete with the flavor and it's still overpowering, not in a bad way. Tastes like a 20% liquor. Bock is what I asked for and imperial bourbon aged bock is what I got.

Two neophytes in a local bottle shop. One says to the other "So we're looking for sour beers. Beers that are sour...I don't know where to really look for those..." Other guy: "Um, so would you say you prefer sour or Kölsch beers?" First guy: "That's a really interesting question, um..." Lost...

Next to last pint of Black Rajah Black IPA. I like it much much better than the White Rajah IPA. For me the over the top hopping can only be balanced with roasted malts. This is why Old Rasputin works I think. Still can't find an IPA that I don't quickly get tired of very quickly.

Some of my favorite styles

Last bomber of my 2014 Christmas Quad. The candied orange peel shows through finally and plays nicely with spices and hops against a Pilsner/Munich and molasses background. Clearer and bright-orangier than it looks here.
