Perlick and Kegco taps and shanks

I have downsized and have 3 beer taps with shanks for sale. Build your kegorator or jockey box. 2 Kegco branded taps with 4" shanks and hardware. $30 each. 1 Perlick tap with 4" shank and hardware. $45 All three for $100. Shipping should be another $10 or so. I also have pin lock and...

Poultry feed as ingredient to brew with?

I've got a reversal from the 'can I feed spent grains to my chickens' threads. I've got about 30 lbs of left over broiler feed that I wonder if I can brew with. I'm thinking of adding 1-5 lbs to some 2 row and a little crystal and making a pale ale or similar. How terrible of an idea is this?

What's with crappy plastic mash paddles?

Other than the price, what's the point of the crappy plastic mash paddle that's not stiff and gets softer when you are actually stirring in hot mash? You know the kind I'm talking about.

    Adding more cider to fermenter?

I have 3 gallons of fresh pressed cider fermenting on ale yeast and am thinking of pressing a few more gallons and just dumping it into the current fermenter. It would seem that any wild yeast should be quickly overwhelmed by the yeast currently fermenting (it's like a huge yeast starter...

    Bucket of C60

A LHBS was closing down and I ended up buying almost 20 lbs of Crystal 60 that they had a blow out price on. My APA uses 1lb per batch but I'm not sure how else to use this all up! Any suggested recipes?

    Front O-Ring for Perlick 525

A front O ring on one of my 525s is starting to go (drip, drip, drip). Instead of buying online and paying $5 for shipping, is there an option I can find at my local hardware store?

Adding star anise and gentian root?

I really enjoyed a 'black saison' that was brewed at Mystic Brewing outside of Boston last month and want to try and replicate it as best as possible. They add star anise and gentian root. Having never brewed with these, does anyone have suggestions on how much to add, when to add, etc. to a 5...

    3 cheap black tap handles

My old tap handles don't work with my new faucets (they are too long), so I'm hoping someone has some spare plain, black handles laying around they want to sell for cheap. Something like this. Let me know what you have any how much they would be shipped. Thanks.

    Long handles on Perlick 525SS?

I just picked up some used Perlicks from supercarbuilder and installed them. They replaced some Krome faucets. When I went to install the 5" long tap handles on my refrigerator/kegerator (drilled through door of fridge), I realized that the rearward angle of the handle in the off position...

Magnum hops too clean for IPAs?

I've been using magnum hops as my bittering charge (60 min) for some time, but I notice a lot of my IPAs and APAs don't have a true bitterness to them. While they are plenty fruity/aromatic (I usually dump a ton of hops in at <5min), I'm not getting that true bitterness I usually taste in...

    Oktoberfest mugs/steins?

Does anyone have a line on cheap beer mugs/steins? I'm throwing an Oktoberfest party and it would be great to have them instead of Solo cups. Budget oriented (sub $1 each for about 50 of them) is critical given the other expenses.

Vermont 2016 Bennington, VT Homebrew Festival

This is a great event that's happening this Saturday in Bennington - http://craftofbeer.weebly.com/

    Serving at a festival?

I am participating at a local homebrew festival next weekend. Last year I borrowed a friends beater jockey box (it's splattered in paint, the plastic is faded, etc) and I'd like to up my game this year. Other folks serve in everything from bottles, to the BeerBox, to picnic taps, to very cool...

    WTB: 3 gallon pin-lock kegs

I have a few recipes that I brew 3 gallons of (mostly seasonals) and one or two of these would be great. Adventures in Homebrewing hasn't had them in a while. Amazon has them for $85 each! I'm in VT for shipping purposes. Thanks.

Vermont Manchester, VT homebrew club brew day - 7/23

If anyone in the Northshire area (or beyond) is interested, the Manchester and the Mountains Brewers Alliance will be meeting at Hapgood Pond, in Peru on Saturday, July 23rd starting at 10am to brew, chat, eat, swim, and get a sunburn! Feel free to bring your brewing gear. We will have...

    Real wort starter

I browsed through Jay Straight's article on the front page and remembered that I had collected a few gallons of extra 2nd runnings over a few batches. I thought I might create a Frankenbeer with them (still might use some) but since I'm brewing this weekend, I thought let's give making a real...

Anyone using S. Korean bucket heater?

I saw this on ebay and it seems like with a cheap controller, eBIAB could be rather simple.

Carlisle Cateraide bev server as MLT?

I do a little part time catering and have been very impressed with how well the Carlisle Cateraide line holds heat. It seems a perfect fit for a MLT that won't loose much temp over an hour or 90 minute mash. The faucet looks like an easy conversion to a ball valve or use direct with a...

Hop prices are too damn high!

I've been shopping around for pounds of hops this fall and am shocked at how expensive certain hops have gotten (amarillo, citra, etc). I realize these are 'hot' right now, but wow, they some are about $10 more a pound this year. I know the weather in the PNW was rough in 2015 and assume...

    Anchor Brewing Winter Wheat?

It looks rather interesting - https://www.anchorbrewing.com/beer/anchor_winter_wheat It's a little hokey given the 5 types of wheat, but a pitch black beer that packs a punch (7% abv) and has a mild, clean taste might be great for a cold winter day. I guess it's closest to BJCP 3B. I'm...
