Speed controller for corded drill, used for milling grain?

Sup Brewers, can I use a speed controller for my corded drill to control the speed of the drill, as I use the drill for milling grain? Talking about this: https://www.harborfreight.com/router-speed-control-43060.html THX

What is the best condition to transport a keg, for serving outside on a hot day?

What is the best condition to transport a keg, for serving outside on a hot day via Jockey Box? Should the keg be at 60*F for less of a temp swing, or should it be super cold at 33*F, and what the best transportation pressure, 12psi? AKA you know it's going to get shaken and warmer? Thanks guys

    Hot off the grill snacks?

Hi guys, I'm looking for new snacks hot off the grill. So as I sit outside and enjoy the bonfire, I can do all the cooking on the grill. In the past I've grilled steak, sausage, chicken, shrimp, and kebabs; then cut them up into bite size pieces so people can feed themselves, (but not commit...

Can I leave the PID on?

Not that I have a problem turning things off, but does it hurt the PID to leave it on if the temp is lower than room temp so it's not calling on the SSR, and the main power (240v) to the panel is also off, just the 120v leg is on powering the PID. Does it hurt it to leave it on for a few days...

Converting my CO2 tank to a fire extinguisher

I posted this here because I love the DRMM forum and I don't want any "safety sallys" on my thread. I have a bunch of normal class 3 fire extinguishers stashed here and there, but I also have three 20 lb CO2 tanks and a few 5 lb tanks as well. I often move gas from cylinder to cylinder with a...

Have you had someone take credit for your HB?

I have a long time family friend who is getting older and a little crazy. He will claim the beer or wort I gave him is his product. I'm not offended by this, I even help him in his story. When he starts one of these stories and can't answer a question and refers to me, I say "I was under the...

    I made an oxygenated beer

So what happened is I made 20 gallons of 10% ale. I racked two and a half kegs of beer, then let the second keg sit with the cap on it till I racked the last 7 gallons 4 days later. So their was one keg that got half filled then 4 days later completely filled. The beer is so bad it's almost a...

    I am so old

I am so old that we didn't have cell phones in high school, the rich kids had beepers. I am so old that I played tapes to listen to music. I am so old that when I was a kid having a answering machine on the only phone in the house was new age. My parents had and used a black and white TV...

Corny's vs sanke's battle, who will win?

I switched from corney to sanke kegs and I thought I start a pro's and cons thread. Using sanke is not talked about much here, and I wanted brewers to know they have a choice cons: I didn't add the gelatin before I put the spear and clip in, then hit it with CO2, so I don't think I can get the...

Should you brew before a big move to a new home

YES!!! I thought what's easier to move buckets and sacks of grain (over 500 lbs) or Beer that is much heavier. The grain was lighter but when I started shutting the brewery down, the home brew ended for 8 months. So if you have a big move coming up, brew your ass-off, because you don't know...

Lets talk about problems with big pots

Sometimes, when you have a lot of stuff TIG'ed (elements, drains, ect..) to them they can be hard to fit through the door, you have to do a little dance to get them through. When I got them I said "I'll never have a boil over again with all this extra room" but I'm still pushing the limits of...

Dewalt XRP drills are crap now. whats the best now?

Let's jump in the time machine, and when I was 19 y/o and a helper in HVAC, all we had was the makita stick drills. You always had to have a battery in the charger, they were slow and weak, but that's all that was available back then. In the next few years Dewalt came on the seen, it was skills...

Why doesn't the US switch to from 120v to 240v

So were having power issues, with a growing population using more power. Then the ever popular coal vs nuke power plant debate. This thread is asking, why don't we start switching everything to 240v? Why or why not?

I stopped by the LHBS, wanted to buy some yeast

Do you ever feel like the LHBS talks down to their customers. I called and asked if they have 1056, then drove over there and they don't. She then said "are you seriously not going to try this new yeast?" I was thinking, seriously I'm not. I was nice and civil, but felt like she was trying...

    Universal rolling base

I made a rolling base, just a board with 4 casters. This is a big project, BIG I say!! JK. I have found this to be a handy tool around the brewery. I use 1/2bbls sankes as fermenters and serving kegs and it makes them so easy to move. When I clean out the MLT, AKA 55 lbs of wet grain, I roll...

    Fast, easy, Pressure cooker

Fast, easy, Pressure cooker, it's a heck of a lot better than Fast-food. I just got home and made super fast chilli. I browned the ground beer in the cooker, then added a large onion, garlic, spices and a lot of peppers. It only took 1/2 an hr to cook this under pressure. What a great...

Does anyone hook the pumps in a loop and clean that way?

Hi guys, Does anyone hook the pumps in a loop and clean that way? Can you only turn one pump on and cycle water or PBW through all the hoses and pumps? Would it hurt the pumps doing this? Can you do this? You'd need male to male cam-lock fittings and use the HLT as a storage vessel?

Duda Diesel, customer service, I'm not mad

I'm not mad at Duda Diesel. I will get what I ordered. I have used their product for years and liked it. I ordered a 30 long plate chiller with all NPT fittings, at the same time (Sunday) I sent them an email with my order number saying if they had one with 3/4 garden hose and 1/2 NPT I would...
