    El Dorado Hops?

The hops were pretty underwhelming with only using 3 oz. We just did this again and doubled the hops to 6oz. Bottling on Sunday, so we'll see.

    Dry Hopping in Primary

Hey everyone, I've searched all over and haven't been able to find the answer I'm looking for. I'm dry hopping for the first time and planned on putting 1oz in a hop sock and then dropping that in my primary. Primary fermentation has already finished. I know there's people who say rack to...

    Patience sucks

This is hilarious!! We've all been there! I won't quote some random thing about relax, don't worry.... yada yada... Welcome to the addiction. I have to go buy grain again tomorrow to brew the exact thing I brewed last weekend to keep the pipeline going or I'll be in trouble with SWMBO and...

    Fermentation Chamber Question

I'm about to buy a fridge/freezer this weekend to use for temp control. My original plan was to by a side by side type unit so eventually I can use one side to serve from kegs and the other to ferment. How do you set this up for 2 different temps? Is it even possible? I think I'm going to order...

    First brew complete

Do not open it every day, that was very bad advice. Leave it alone for a couple weeks and then you can check your gravity. Patience is an important part of brewing and can be difficult when starting out. Just let the yeast do their thing. Congrats on your first brew! :mug:

    Milled grain shelf life

There is a sale on all grain kits that I want to buy. Buy 2 get one free... Not a bad deal but I'm not sure how long the milled grain will be good. Thoughts?

    First batch last night!

Transferring to a secondary as well as cold crashing before bottling will really help clear it up

    Trub in harvested yeast

I'm making the same porter, so I think the trub will be fine. Thanks for the replies! :mug:

    Trub in harvested yeast

I harvested yeast from my last porter and want to use it to make a starter (first time harvesting). I have 3 1q jars. One of them has a ton of trub and not a lot of visible yeast, one has a medium amount of trub and a decent amount of yeast and the third has some trub and decent amount of yeast...

    Porter Recipe Help

"A really strong porter will mask the vanilla flavor. You don't say how many beans you added or how you prepared them. I just bottled a vanilla porter last week. I used 4 beans split, chopped and soaked in vodka. I dumped the whole mix in for 5 days after I reached FG. I also kept the gravity...

    Porter Recipe Help

Sorry if I sound like a rookie but that's what I am. I've done 3 all grain batches so far. I really want to make a good Vanilla Porter. I started with what I thought sounded like a great robust porter recipe to which I added vanilla beans to my secondary. It came out very bitter and dry, also...
