Priming Brews over a year in seconadry?

Hi All, I have a RIS that has been in secondary fermentation for about 18 months- in a used 5 GAL whiskey barrel. FG when I racked to the barrel was 1.031. I normally keg and force carbonate all my brews. However, I would like to bottle this batch. Since there is likely little...

    Grain storage

I have 6 of these- http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00186O0UQ/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 They hold a 55# bag no problem. They are on wheels, have an airtight seal and are built very well. Sometimes you can find them on Amazon Warehouse (scratch and dent) for under $20.

    Motorized Mill Gear Motor Sources

I bought mine from Northern Brewer. A 1/3 HP 110V electric motor out of an old washing machine works perfectly. You should be able to find a used motor on CraigsList.

    Question about Oak Spirals

This brew still has a few weeks left. I previously did the same method with Jim Beam Bourbon. I used 2 whole spirals. The beer was a bit too oakey-this is why I reduced the latter to 1-1/2. I also used all the bourbon (I believe about 6 OZs). The Bourbon flavor was a bit much so I reduced...

    Question about Oak Spirals

Definitely-I just recently did this for a similar Breakfast Stout. I used 1-1/2 Medium+ Toast spirals (I broke one in half) and soaked them in Graduated cylinders filled with Knob Creek Maple Bourbon. I added the spirals for the last 6 weeks of secondary fermentation. I also added 3 OZs of...

    First pour foamy

You might try replacing the gaskets between the shank and the nipple where the clear beer lines screw on? A while back I had one that was sucking in air (without leaking) or causing turbulence. There are 2 types of gaskets-fiber and nylon. Can't remember which is supposedly better. If you...

    First pour foamy

Every brew is different in my experience. This is why it is nice to have a separate regulator for multiple tap handles-so you don't have to run 2 or more different brews off the same pressure. You will just have to dial in pressures for each brew. In my experience, 8-10 PSI is a good rule of...

    Stc controller build

I've seen the STC-1000 control head on Amazon for $15. What would I expect to spend on everything else to complete this project without scoring the clearance items that you bought? Thanks!
