Got a classic Amber sitting on some oak chips in the secondary and just finished brewing a Belgium Blonde that I will rack on to 5lbs of apricot purée in a few weeks.
I have added raw honey to many batches in my primary without issues and/or concern. I always add my honey at high Krausen typically over a 2-3 day span( little each day) even in the rare case there was wild yeast at high ferment who do you think will win out? The small amount of wild or my...
So the last few times I have been brewing I have been getting stuck mashes. I have a 10 gallon Home Depot cylinder cooler with a braided SS mesh filter. Would a false bottom or some other filter work better?
My last batch was a hefe which I know is more common for stuck mashes. However, I had...
Yes I do all grain and use the water with not additional treatment. At least the Glacier units here go through a 5 stage filtering system.
I mean definitely do what is comfortable to you but I have been using it for years and have made some great beers of many varieties.

My vote would be to replace any old unclean plastic as it's not worth the risk of losing a entire batch of beer because of a cheap to replace bucket. I would use them for premixed StarSan containers, grain and preboil supplies, etc...

Not sure about Florida but in my state of Oregon there are self service filtered water dispensing machines at many local stores. I have a similar issue with my tap water but it's only $1.75 for 5 gallons ($0.35 a gallon) and you bring your own container.

So I just racked my Amber in to a keg and it ended up barely fitting. It's so full that the gas literally only made a small Psst at 35lbs and stopped.
So I am wondering will it still be ok and good to carbonate? I've just never had the keg this full before..

Process is the same no matter what. Calculations are typically for 5 gallons already so unless it's an equipment issue I recommend 5 gallons. Plus if your beer turns out fantastic you would be kicking yourself for only doing 3 gallons.

This sounds scary not only is there a fire threat here leaving a gas stove on all night unsupervised but also a risk of Carbon Monoxide and plain gas poisoning.

Well she is all complete and the party went off without any issues. Already got asked to do a family wedding so I think I will get a good amount of use out of this contraption.

Personally I am going to be taking my beer-side-Togo dispensing setup on it's maiden voyage ( pic below). It will have a Belgium Strong Blonde that was racked on 2 pounds of strawberry purée dubbed "PD (panty dropper) Strawberry Blonde". It will also have a 90 min Dog Fish IPA clone that I...
So I just had to take a moment to share my fascination with all grain brewing.
I've been brewing for a few years now but only been doing all grain for the last 4 batches. I always said I would still do extract batches when time was tight or just for the heck of it.
However I am so infatuated...
No wasn't in the pics. For the party this next weekend I will use plastic trash cans filled with ice. I have two and each holds 2 kegs. Did it for a wedding last summer and worked fine.
The future plan is the build some jockey boxes with chillers.
