Yeast Starter

I usually brew 5 gallons of beer. I want to start doing a yeast starter. Is 2L to much more 5 gallons of wort? There so many ways on how to do a starter, what is a good way to either do a 1L or 2L starter? As far as equipment goes I have a stir plate and 2L elermayer flask. Thanks!
