Brewed my first batch this year which means I had to wake up my yeasties after many months in the fridge. Decided on Denny's Fave (Wyeast 1450) and made a 2L starter that I stepped up 24 hours later by 1L. I saw very, VERY little action and wondered how viable the yeast were but decided to pitch after 36 hours. If nothing happens in the wort then I have plenty of dry yeast to pitch so I wasn't worried. Twelve hours later I check the fermenter and there's at least an inch of krausen in it!!

I was pleasantly surprised to say the least, but was wondering if anyone had similar trials with long dormant yeast??
