I harvested some yeast from my previous Vienna lager fermentation. I added sanitized water to the fermentor, shook it up, then put the yeast/water/trub mixture into mason jars. They have been there for 2 days and there is only 2 layers: the top liquid and then a cloudy tan layer, but no trub at the bottom. The is even separation going on. I've never reused yeast so I'm not sure what part is the yeast and what part I'm supposed to dump. I've read that the clear liquid holds all the yeast and I've heard the cloudy stuff does.

The first 2 pictures let's call Jar #1. Jar #1 has extreme separation on top as well as near the bottom. A huge chunk came of the top and is moving by itself. Keep in mind these have not been moved for over 48 hours.

The 3rd and 4th pictures are Jar #2. Jar #2 is extremely clear separation with a flat cloudy sediment unlock the chunky of #1. As you can see there are cracks near the bottom of Jar #2 as well.

Does anybody know whats going on and why there is no trub and this odd cracking is happening. I have a batch I'm pitching this yeast into tomorrow and have no clue what to put into the fermentor. Thanks.

EDIT: Editing to add picture #5. This is of Jar #1. Right after posting this, almost the whole cloudy layer floated to the top of the jar.
