I had a problem with my stove this weekend which resulted in me not completing a batch. I had already brought my White Labs liquid yeast in a vial to room temperature for use and was wondering if putting it back in the fridge for later use makes sence; or is the vial pretty much useless?

The date is still good; I'm just curious as to whether the yeast will still be active once I am ready to ferment another batch.

Thanks for your help.

Ken

^^ + 1 for what Rich said. And welcome - saw your intro post, too. Good luck with your next attempt! Did the episode with your stove involve profanity? :)

Oh yes. Lots of profanity. Glad to hear I can still use this yeast.

The problem has been remedied by purchasing a propane cooker. Made a batch yesterday (different kit) which hopefully be done with primary fermentation by the weekend. I'll transfer to carboy, clean/sanitize primary bucket, and try the original batch again this weekend. Now I just need to get new grains to replace the ones I used. I suppose I can just order these by name? (I guess this belongs in a different forum, now?)

Thanks,

Ken

You can order them online or go to a local homebrew store (lhbs in the vocabulary of this forum) by name and weight. LBHS will save you shipping costs, plus the staff might be able to offer advice and counsel. But mail order will work, too.
