Maybe eggs that hatched? I see we're getting a lot of boweevils this year. If I remember right,these are like a dark & orange striped lil buggers. They keep flying into the house in the evening.

Grain weevils are extremely common. Freeze grain for 24 hrs to kill them. Don't worry, they improve the beer. Might not want to make it public though.
 
Good experiment. We didn't have time for that and ours weren't that big. Now how did you sift the dead bugs from the grain?
 
more importantly, what affect will they have on mash ph and how fermentable are they
