We should all find a central place to meet up....We are staying at the Sheraton which is supposedly 2 blocks from the festival grounds. The plan now is for us to park there and walk over.

I'll PM my cell # to you guys so we can meet up. Cool?

#1000

I decided to make this special post here. :)

Maybe I'll ask my wife to pick me up when it is over. Not that I want to get hammered, it's just that I want to sample a lot and don't want to risk anything ;)

I'm definitely looking forward to meeting you guys. The next months will be on the quiet side with regards to actual brewing activity for me. I'll be moving in June and I don't really want to move primaries or secondaries full of beer. Not even a larger stash of any brew. I'm not sure yet what I'll be doing with the Oktoberfest. I'm intrigued by moving it to NE, but then where do I lager it during temporary housing. I don't think SWMBO will like the idea of it being in the kitchen fridge.

Kai

If you are bottling that oktoberfest, I think the GRABASS guys could probably find it a good home.

I've got a small crew coming, too, so we should have a pretty decent entourage. Walker and the Kaiser have my cell # so we should be able to all coordinate. We can have a GRABASS lunch this week to plan the strategery and get back to everybody in this thread, as well.

I was bottling over at St. George's today and Connor told me to get to the fest early. He said the line will be REALLY long.

I have some Lake Walk Pale Ale in a 2 liter that I was going to bring along for you guys to sample, so maybe I can just carry that and some plastic cups and we will have something to drink while standing in line. that way by the time we get to the front of the line, I can just trash the 2 liter bottle before we go in.

That said, what time were we planning on meeting?

I don't have your cell #, Billy. Please PM it to me.

I'm not sure, but Billy and I were planning to have lunch this week to sort out details of when/where to meet up at the fest.

As for swapping beer, Dude... I'll bring a 6er and keep it in a cooler in my car. I can turn it over to you after the festival, either at the festival grounds, or at your hotel if we are still planning on trashing it. :)

Yeah, I don't know what the "after plans" are, but Saturday morning I get off of a shift at 7 AM, so I'll probably be a bear after going on 4 hours of sleep and a good buzz. I would like to hit up a decent brew pub or a Buffalo Wild Wings (or some place) for dinner Saturday Night.

I'm bringing beer for all of you guys too. I have LPR, Honey Pale, Honey Wheat, and Imperial Hellfire planned. The Lake Walk had an "accident" the other night and spilled all over my kegerator. A connection came loose and I lost about a gallon. The last gallon.

Thank goodness I had a 2 liter saved in the other fridge, so at least you guys get to sample some of it.

Definitely let us know what comes about for plans at the GRABASS luncheon. :rockin:

The Weizenbock won't be ready, though I suppose I could bring some bottles, anyways.

If it is IN bottles already, definitely bring some!!!!
I am pretty patient and WILL wait til you give the go ahead to drink.

The way this IHA is tasting, it might be good next summer! The Honey pale needs some mellowing too.

I've got a six pack of espresso stout left that I brewed in October, a six pack of the previous batch of IPA, a bunch of Holy Grail, and a bunch of the latest batch of IPA.

I'll bring both IPS batches. You won't believe the difference in hop profiles,. The recipe was 99% identical; the only real difference was that one batch used pellets and the other batch used whole hops. The pellet batch has more of a whip-crack, in-your-face hoppiness than the whole hop batch.

If anyone has a couple extra tickets for the evening, the wife and I would be interested. Online tickets are sold out and we can't get any of the other ticket locations to sell us evening tickets over the phone.

How long will it take you to drive down here, Dude? (In other words, what is your ETA at the hotel.)

If you'll be there early enough, maybe we could all just meet there, swap brews, and walk to the festival as a group. (The GRABASS luncheon to discuss details is tomorrow, but why not do some if here on the forum to get your input.)

Second, I never got a PM with your cell in it, but I sent you mine a few minutes ago.

Finally, we should discuss Saturday dinner plans, too. I'm down for it. SWMBO says she'll do the dinner thing with us if we can convince her sister to babysit all day rather than just during the festival itself. If her sister can't babysit all day, SWMBO will have to head home to be Mom, but I can probably get permission to sneak out on my own for dinner with the rest of y'all.

PS: I'm stoked for this weekend.

well we also wanna meet up with yall so pm us your cell numbers and where we will meet and we will do the same..

you can pm me or sailman...

ps.. im STOKED too!

I google mapped it and it says 3.5 hours from my doorstep to the hotel. We can easily make it in 3 if that is the case. We were planning on leaving at 7:30 AM, as soon as I get off of work. I plan on sleeping pretty much the whole way down.

Anyway, Walker that sounds good to me. Meet at the hotel parking lot and walk over from there. I am game for whatever though.

I will answer your PM shortly....and I'll send my cell phone to the peeps that have said they are going so we can all meet up.

BTW--if you are attending...please PM me some info....doing something cheesy for fun. Spouse's name, and your first name, in a PM please. EDIT: Only need that info for your spouse if she/he is going to be with you. :)

Let's get a roll call going...quote this list and add your name:
Baron von BeeGee
Walker-san
Kaiser
Dude
BeerLuvnGrl (I would have said Gal, but whatever!)

Dude, are you able to check in that early at the hotel? We're thinking meet at 11:30 in line (whoever is there first). We can call/sms whatever to coordinate. Otherwise, 12:30pm at the Rogue tent (I'm assuming they're there...correct me if I'm wrong).

Send one of us your cell # if you want to coordinate outside the fest, otherwise inside at Rogue at 12:30 is still the plan.

I just checked the festival's website. Rogue IS present, so 12:30 @ their booth/tent/whatever is the plan.

I have no idea when we will be getting in, but I hope about 10:30-11ish.

It doesn't matter to me where we hook up. I do like the idea of meeting at the Rogue tent though if things get messed up.

Walker and I were planning on doing a beer swap at the hotel parking lot but we can always do that later too.

As far as afterwards, I was hoping a Buffalo Wild Wings would be in Raleigh, apparently not. I'll leave it up to you guys to suggest someplace if their is interest on eating afterwards. I'd prefer a good beer selection--but I'm not picky.

Weather is looking OUTSTANDING Saturday. 70's and sunny all day. :rockin: :p

Ok.....wherever we meet up, I'll have a 2 liter of Lake Walk and plastic cups. Find me. :)

Dude, you will not be allowed to bring that inside the festival. From the festival website FAQ:
Q: Can I bring my own food or beverages into the festival?
A: No, no outside food or beverage is allowed
I'd hate for you to have to dump your last 2L of Lake Walk.

If we hook up in line and can finish it before getting to the front of the line (shouldn't be a problem) then we're good, but if we don't hook up until we get inside, the LW is probably best left in a cooler in your car or hotel or something.
