Ok so i planned to brew a Cream Ale and a Honey Kolsch this weekend.
My work hours are not going to allow me to get to the LHBS.
So i'm hoping to use the hops i have kicking around.

I ran the #'s through Beer Smith so i know my IBU's will be Ok and in the range i need. I really need to know flavor wise if these choices will work in the styles i'm attempting.

For the Honey Kolsch

1 oz Vanguard at 60 for Bittering
1 oz Goldings at 30 for flavor

For the Cream Ale

1 oz Cascade at 60 for Bittering
1/2 oz Sazz at 30 for flavor
1/4 oz Mt Hood at 10 for flavor/aroma
1/4 oz Galaxy at flameout for aroma
(scrapping the bottom of the barell with my left over hops on this one)

So what do you all think flavor wise will these choices be OK?

Doing 5 gal batches Extract with steeping grains

5 gal boil, 5.5 gal in fermenter OG right around 1.45 for both styles.
Pitching Honey Kolsch on a Kolsch slurry that i'm racking out of primary on brew day. Pitching Cream Ale on a Wheat ale slurry that i'm also racking out of primary on brew day.

So i'm hoping my hops choices will be ok so i can reuse my yeast slurry right away.

Love to hear your thoughts

thanks

Itll be fine. Neither of those styles really have noticeable hop character. As long as you dont add too much IBUs, I doubt it will really make a difference. Plus if the hops are leftover (gyuessing open packages for the fractions of an ounce) they wont be as potent anyway from degradation
