I scrounge most of mine from craigslist, or when I am in need of one rather quickly I just grab one from my local HB store, after shipping online they are about the same price.

PB, I've done pretty well with my local (Detroit area) home brew supply, "Adventures in Home Brewing". If you don't mind used/reconditioned, they might be worth mail-ordering from.

They've got 2-handle 5-gal ball lock kegs for $29:

I also notice they've got 2-handle 5-gallon pin lock kegs on sale for $19:

For awhile, they even had single-handle ball locks on sale for $16, but it looks like they sold out of them.
I can vouch for their business ethic; they're great guys who love the craft and are very generous with their advice.

Happy Kegging!

Got my last batch from Brewmasters Warehouse. They were in pretty good shape. The flat shipping rate was great too!

I just checked into that! I may need to buy a few from them just because the shipping keeps the price less than my local price!

I got mine from Brewmasters Warehouse as well, they were in decent shape, cleaned and hold pressure. I got mine on one of Ed's sales and together with the flat rate shipping made it a great deal, especially when I was buying other things at the same time.

Anywhere I can find them. Some from one LHBS for $32 when I needed them N.O.W.
The rest from CHI or another LHBS where I get them for $25 cleaned and half-polished :)

Edit: And a few from CL

More Beer has been great, I've gotten sets of four, 5-gallon ball locks for $115.95 delivered (plus tax, if you live in California like I do). (However since these are not rebuilt, you'll probably want to be sure to have some new seals.)

Whenever I need one I just drive 5 min the metal recylers. They always have about 20 laying around and the are in good shape most with the post protectors still on. Plus you never know what else you might find, picked up all my 3 piece swaglocks for $10 a piece last time.

I wish I could find a place with prices like that closer to me. With shipping included, I may as well just go the LHBS and pick up kegs.

+1 on that. My "local" HBS is +70 miles away, so I usually grab a few when I'm down that way. OK prices are still pretty steep $38+ (LHBS). I buy everyone I can find on craigslist locally, recently picked up (2) used ball locks for $40 and thats the cheapest pair i have ever purchased.

My lhbs sells them 90$... They are not cleaned and don't have the gaskets replaced. They still sell hops for $7.75/oz... 38 bucks isn't all that bad for a keg.

I suppose not if you're up in Canada. I feel bad for you bro :(

It's not all that bad, the brew club here has enough group buying power that nobody really uses the lhbs (they kinda gave us no choice at those prices). it's only unfortunate if you need something and can't wait until the next group buy.

I purchased my first kegs through kegconnection.com, they used to be $29, but their prices have skyrocketed to $36/keg, I will say that their customer service was excellent. My LHBS sells kegs for $29+tax, and I get a 10% discount through my Homebrew club, but with our state sales tax at 9.1% all I'm saving is that tax. I cant complain they are in decent shape, and let you pick the ones you want.

Good that you're finding ways around the system. If things got more oppressive where I am, I'd do the same with group grain, yeast banking, bulk hops, etc.

I got two from B3 and two with my kit from Midwest. The ones from Midwest were supposed to have new seals but they showed a lot of ware and obviously had not been replaced. The ones from B3 were in good shape. I'm really not to happy with anything about the kit from Midwest--except the price. They didn't post my review and I was being nice.

That's kind of strange because I've ordered some equipment from Midwest in the past and when I had any issues I just called them up and they would send me a replacement part, no questions asked.
