I know it depends on the beer, but if you had to pick a favorite.

I love dry-hopping with Cascade. Yeah, it's what everyone does, but for a good reason! It's awesome!

Also, I have tried dry-hopping with Columbus, and it smelled and tasted like a pine tree! If you like pine, I recommend Columbus!

I used to think Cascade. But I just made a Bells Two Hearted clone using only Centennial, and the aroma is f**king awesome. So I'd say Centennial.

I've become an absolute Centennial addict. Ever since I had my first Bell's Two Hearted Ale I've been hooked. I now make an all Centennial IPA dry hopped with 3 oz of Centennial. The aroma has always reminded me of citrus, mostly oranges. I love it.

I love willamette as a flavor hop, combined with nugget is real nice. Thats my combo for an American stout and the willlamette blast at the end of a sip is just fantastic.

Amarillo is probably my favorite, Simcoe is a close 2nd.

I can't narrow it down to just one so I'll pick Amarillo and Simcoe. I dry hop all my APA's and IPA's with Amarillo.

Haven't yet met a Hop I didn't like :D. Actually though, you did narrow it to Aroma...that's a toughy. I'll pass on a final decision :p

I love Willamette. But then, I tend to prefer the floral hops over the citrusy hops.

Gotta try Columbus and Simcoe, though. I think they sound like my cup of... beer.

And, back on topic, I really do like Perle as an aroma hop, but only in combination with something else. It gives this minty brightness and earthy support to the "American" hop aromas. I don't want it for melody, but it serves great as harmony.

For my taste, the answer is a simple and resounding. "East Kent Goldings."

I find I prefer the earthy spiciness of EKG and Fuggles (and that lovely Fuggles derivative, Willamette) over the citrus and pine of American varieties (which I can't abide, really), and the subtle tones of the Continental noble varieties just don't trip my trigger.

Cheers,

Bob

I have a growing affinity for Willamette in English Pale Ales and American Wheats. I like the tobacco-like character it gives when dry hopped. I've heard that Fuggles will impart the same flavor/aroma, but I don't know that from first hand experience.

I can't narrow it down to just one so I'll pick Amarillo and Simcoe. I dry hop all my APA's and IPA's with Amarillo.

I also Love Amarillo and Simcoe.
I love Cascade and Simcoe too.

Have not tried Cascade and Amarillo together yet.

has all three dryhopped together been tried?

Simcoe all the way. I have a citrus wit that was dry hopped with simcoe that is fantastic. Blends well with the corriander, and the grapefruit peel gets a boost from it.

I do like Willamette (just picked up a half pound) and I have been known to dabble with Amarillo.

Sounds like I'll have to try Amarillo and Simcoe together.

On a side note...The Ballast Point Sculpin IPA is AMAZING. Here's a note from the brewer.

SCULPIN IPA - MADE WITH MAGNUM, COLUMBUS, CRYSTAL, NORTHERN BREWER, CENTENNIAL, SIMCOE AND AMARILLO HOPS IN FIRST WORT ADDITIONS, AND 3 DIFFERENT BOIL ADDITIONS. WE THEN DRY HOPPED THIS 50 BBL BATCH WITH OVER 220 LBS. OF AMARILLO AND SIMCOE HOPS. ITS DELICIOUS. WORD-
