I just bought these pumps and wired them today. They both pump liquid at the same rate. The first pump is nice and quiet. The second one is quite loud. Neither of them leak at all. What is causing the loud noise? Is the second pump bad?

Try taking the pump head off and turn it on just like that for a second to see if the noise is in the body or in the pump housing maybe? I guess it would have to be in the pump housing as its the only moving parts huh? maybe try swaping the pump heads and see if the problem goes with it. In which case Id say something is definately wrong in there. Or something fell into it.

From the sound of it, I would guess the motor was dropped or damaged at some point and now the rotor of the motor is rubbing internally. If you just got it, try going back to the distributor and see if they can do something for ya...if not then send it back to me here direct and i will check it out. Right now its a 1 day turn around.

Walter,

The video was only the second time I turned the pumps on. I was going to take the polysulphone housing apart to see if there was anything obviously wrong in there. Are these items under warranty from the manufacturer for any period of time?

Thanks,
Bill

Warranty is for one year. Easiest thing you can do at home before going anywhere with it is as follows:
Take the 4 philips screws out of the pump head and take the pump head off.
Then turn the motor on and see if still makes noise. If noisy then its in the motor. If not noisy then its either the motor bracket alignment or something inside the pump head. The drive magnet on the motor should be centered inside the bracket....you can try and slightly loosen the 4 flat head screws and tap the bracket around till you center it. We use a jig to center it here at the factory. Like i said you can send it back here to me and i can check it out for ya. No cost to you other then the shipping charges to get it here.

Walter,
I have a march 809 and i put an 815 impeller in the 809. I had a problem with the drive mag and impeller decoupling. Is the magnet strength different in the 815 pump from the 809. Do I need a new 815 drive motor to make it work?
Thank you.

The magnet on the 815 impeller is slightly stronger...but for the most part they wont decouple unless the fluid is extra heavy. Unless you are trying to pump a malt of some sorts you should have problems...There have been instances where the magnets dont get 100% magnetized but then those customers have issues right out of the box with just plain water. You can send it back here if you like and i can test it all out for you if you like.
