I had Maine Event last night. It was good - nothing spectacular. I could see how people might go crazy for it if they haven't had something from Foundation or Bissell. But IMO comparing Maine Event to beers from those breweries is not a comparison that's beneficial to Magnify at this point.

I Tried M.E. today as well. I told someone this is like Gravitational Waves just not as good.
It was certainly enjoyable though.

That long Magnify post was interesting as hell. A lot going on with such a new brewery! I guess I'm in the camp of liking their beers and never having a bad experience there. I'm with Sammyjaxxxx: the Maine Event was really good (but not as good as Gravitaional Waves - no GW this weekend, oh the humanity!)

some brewery should ya know open and just use all the jersey cliches.. and only jersey cliches and their tap room/brewery should be located on the wild wood boardwalk or something... sounds like a good time right?

Armpit of America Pale

This is a brewery in NJ that exists and has a name referring to something about which people from out of state whine:

Though their beer is actually quite good, so I'm willing to let it slide.

not really referencing anybody in particular but our states breweries beer names and brewery names kind of ******* suck... imo of course

There are some bad ones for sure, but Carton, Kane, and Magnify aren't embarrassing. Magnify in particular seems to make some effort to have fun names.

I'd have to say the worst in all aspects (including the quality of the actual beer), for me, is Village Idiot, who brew a beer called Thong Remover Tripel. Just awful.

Village idiot is Medicore beer with an occasional gem of beer. Most imo are niche type beers.
But the have a decent location across from pizza shop. A restaurant/ bar opening down street.
And within reason around multiple other breweries.

I think it's not so much the names of beers... I think branding is the main thing... Carton does a fantastic job at branding though.

I will gladly suggest names if you'd like though.. hahaha...

and yes, there are some breweries and beers with cringe-worthy, bottom of the doodoo scale names

Wait, if a name is really bad, wouldn't it be at the top of the doodoo scale? The worse the name, the higher the doodoo scale number? I guess it depends who's running the doodoo scale.

These are the types of questions that derail me at work and end my productivity early.

are you partial to floaters or sinkers?

suggest some better names?

idk.. i'm partial to names that referencing things... others may not be.. maybe they won't get the reference... could do a series based on a director, actor, decade, music genre, etc.

Here are some Bill Murray references that could work for beer names... but IPA or Stout or Saison or Wild Ale or Porter or Bitter or whatever the style is after the name

This Mr. Stay Puft's okay!

Needlenose Ned? Ned the Head?... Bing!
I'd like to say a prayer and drink to world peace
You've made a cuckold of me

idk.. nobody pays me to do this ****.. just think it should be fun, engaging, more so then here is our IPA, here is our blonde, here is our coconut/coffee/vanilla stout

some places do do this well.. Kane and Carton do a fantastic job.... maybe it was because things were newer in NJ for craft when they started... just seems like a lot of the new places the past 18 months are maybe in such a rush they aren't thinking about the branding aspect of things so much

i personally don't groove on ideas that aren't mine, whether it's recipes or names. so if murray said it first it only makes sense to me if i have some ownership of it. so there are things others have said i would use but only if the story was mine. like we did C.R.E.A.M with barrier but that was a money=cash joke on top of a cream ale joke. so as much as i personally like your list they all fail with me because once murray says something it is his forever, he's just that good.

by the way i worked on tenenbaums, and was in the room for "you've made a cuckold of me" 100% as good as you think

Anyone been to Lone Eagle? Apparently I have to stop by tomorrow with a friend of mine on our way to Greenwood Lake from Lambertville

Do you live near Lambertville? I'm about 10 minutes away and a bunch of my friends live there. If so we'll have to touch tips sometime.
