Some good beers dropping today... Plus I hear it's a great place to stare at your phone

This beer *****...

That’s nice, cuz it’s not a cheap date.
It's a 16$ spontaneously fermented beer aged in port barrels though. I get that a lot of people won't pay much more than 8-9$ for a beer but at some point the content has to count for something. I feel for what it is it's far from expensive, or at least a long way from the 22-25$ 375ml beers from some other breweries

Lighten up, Francis. It was a joke based on the comment I replied to.

Because you made it seem expensive. I get the wordplay, joke part of it... but you know the saying about there being truth behind jokes. Plus, it's difficult to tell if you meant it about the price.
I mean, it was a joke with a comment on the price. Objectively, $16 for one small bottle of beer is more money than normal, but we all get there’s a lot going on to make it. Man, I can never ever win with this group. Haha

Don't sweat it. This an informed group... Marc just didn't want misinformation out there.

It is an interesting model. Even if it's a very good brewery, how often would somebody go?

I don't think any more or less than other bar/restaurants in a busy downtown area like Somerville. But I do think that when they have a good brewery they probably attract people from farther away than someone would usually travel just for dinner/drinks.

I have to imagine one would rather just go to Tapastre where they have 22 taps from a host of different breweries but maybe that's just me.

I just do both lol. Depending on my mood is where I'll eat. I like the rotating menu of the pub more, just because I've been to Tapastre so many times and they don't really change theirs up much. Same owner though so the money ends up in the same pocket.

Originally Mike wanted to turn the upstairs into a brew pub and the town gave him a bunch of hassle, probably because he already had an existing liquor license for the place and they wouldn't let him reclassify it? But then they let another brew pub open up in town so I don't know...But that's why he chose the business model he did for the pub.

I'm hoping as more Jersey breweries expand production they will be able to bring in beers from those spots that I don't get a chance to drink a lot of... like Tonewood or Vinyl. It's just hard to keep up with 10 lines for a solid month for most places.

I just saw that on my FB feed. I was about to ask the same question.

There have been a few posts in the NJ Facebook Group about them. A few folks said that they have had the beer and it is top notch. Apparently the owner is very willing to answer questions and share beer with those interested.
