Checked out the soft opening of the Barrow House last night. Very cool spot, it's amazing what they did with the interior of that place. Food is pricey, but very good. Similar draft selection to Cowans, about 15 taps, all craft. Looks like half will always be on and half will rotate.
had dinner tonight. Food is amazing, place is amazing. Beers are real good but some interesting choices (The Shed as a staple?) lot of love to a distributor that's... not everyone's favorite.

Besides that 1917 bourbon drink on draft was phenomenal. Really happy with the place. Wondering how they'll do on Sundays with football and not 1 TV in the whole entire place. Seems like a very interesting idea in the middle of Clifton. I figure if they can put 1-2 TVs in certain spots of just the bar it would be a bigger draw for certain days.

After all of that I can't wait to go again, really awesome place.

Went to a bar today that tried serving me a Brotherton IPA, which to my knowledge of drinking it (twice) is an unfiltered IPA. However, when they gave it to me, it was clear as can be. So my question is...is that even possible at the top or bottom of the keg? Or did Dave Hoffman switch the kegs on me? ;)

My picture from when I had it a few weeks ago.

How big is the place? No Tv's works for a smaller joint, but i hear ya about smack dab in the middle of Clifton. Gotta check this place out.

Long shot, but any of you homies know of a Scarlet or Green lot pass for sale for this weekend's Rutgers-Indiana game?

glennl curious as to any insights on object permanence possibly making it till Sunday this weekend? I figure a good flood of people will be there for Thursday

That's a tough one... we bottled a lot of it, but there does seem to be a groundswell of "hey this beer's really good" type commentary which might drive people in who were maybe on the fence because it's new and a barleywine... and we're open Thursdays now so you've got three "days" before Sunday. But then again there's a 4 bottle limit so... wish I had a better answer for you.

Thanks for responding! Yeah I felt it was one of those your answer is as good of mine situations, but had to ask in the off chance quantity on hand was super high. You know how well the eyeball scale of a neckbeards can be. Working on the #gopickitupformebro

Been checking both diligently thanks! Been on Rivals since college which is crazy. Most likely have a pass lined up, but I have to pick it up in Metuchen on Friday. Think I may dip down to Kane afterward!
Might see you there ;)

Anyone going to Kane's anniversary party at the Nip n' Tuck tomorrow night (11/3)? Starts at 7pm. I for one cannot wait to go.
I wish!

Damn savages with a line

I think it was already mentioned but The Barrow House in Clifton is really nice. It has that vibe and look that I love at Cowan's, but you can actually get a drink from the bar in under 15 minutes, and a table in under 45. The building is enormous. Like, when the hostess was leading us back to our table, we just kept walking through what felt like room after room after room.

The beer selection was fine. I'm not going to gripe about any place with Boat and Head High on the menu, but I'm sure they'll mix it up a bit going forward. Emily had two cocktails and said "they were very good, very balanced." Which isn't surprising, since Cowan's cocktails have always been really good.

Food was solid. I played it safe and had the burger, Em had roasted cauliflower, and these duck quesadillas with pickled habanero grapes. They had some other interesting stuff on the menu (for example--pig tails), so I'm definitely looking forward to working through some more of what they've got.
