What happens to yeast when pitching at 88 deg?

I have yet to make a wort chiller (no way to attach to faucet) but I found another "cheat" that has worked for me so far. I use the freezer packs that you put in coolers or lunch boxes. Just sterilize the pack and throw it in the wort. I have yet to have any problem with this method. I am open to feedback though.
