Me too. :D Imported German malts were $35 a bag shipped.

Hey Ed. I'm beginning to wonder about you. All that grain, all those little green eggs, all that apfelwein. Are you running one of those Texas cult compounds?

Home Brew Mart is $0.65 a pound if you by 50# ($32.50). You can even buy it on a gift certificate and go get it as you need it. They will typically run it through their brewery mill for free if you want.
Since they are a brewery also (Ballast Point) they just feed the supply off their silo.

Gentleman, this is the target. We know that it makes frequent deliveries to a Texas stronghold at regular intervals. The truck is heavily guarded. All that is left for this heist to work is we will need a driver for the getaway van, a buxom lass to distract the truck driver, and several tear gas grenades to smoke out the guards in the back. Good luck gentlemen, we're all counting on you.

What is the HB store? I would drive up to Marion for that.

Gentiles in Grandview has Briess 2 row for $50 a bag.. or at least it was a week or 2 ago... There are 2 options in town... Winemaker's guild will order it for you too.. Not sure on their prices though...

Most generic 2 Row is still going fairly cheap, but any well known malt has almost doubled since last year and the projection is it will continue to rise. :(

And to make this a fair comparison, shipping costs should be included unless you get it local.

Here are my conclusions. My not so local HBS can sell it to me for $48.50 (.97 per lb.) (Great Western 50#) when I happen to be in town, or I can buy it for about $54 shipped from morebeer ($1.08 lb). But, I was also going to spring for the grain mill at approx $120. Or I can continue to pay $1.25 plus .10 for milling from morebeer with free shipping and smaller increments. After about 450 lbs of grain I would pay for my grain mill. So, I will probably stick with smaller shipments until I find a better deal.

My LHBS runs a "Twofer Sale"

Domestic Schreier 2 Row Grain: 50 lb bag is $36.99. Two is $65.99. Pretty much a no brainer to get two. :D

$33 for 50lb of Briess two-row at Michigan Brewing Co. (thingsbeer.com), out the door. I have to drive 30 mi to get it. Have to start taking that into serious consideration these days.

Wanted to revise this since i went today.. Briess Pale Ale Malt was $55.99 and Muntons Pale was 68.99... Both cheaper than the other shop in town though...

Man I shoulda done my homework before selling 22 bags of grain for 20 bucks each! I could made some money!!!

My LHBS sells grain for $2.45/lb. Don't know what they'd charge for bulk if they would sell. i think i use the same shop as SkinFiddler though. On highstreet past krogers Fiddler?

Twenty-five bucks. Canadian. (same thing nowadays.)

I have work in Ponoka, Alberta. I beetled on down to Alix, Alberta on the lunch break and got two sacks of two-row right from the Rahr malting factory. $25.00 per bag.

It was kinda wierd I don't think they get many (read any) people showing up on the factory door. I kinda got the feeling that if I'd offered $75.00 to fill the box of a half ton they would've taken it.

Now as to Marris Otter & Pilsner you don't want to know what I paid for those.:(

I want to throw some props to these guys in Aloha, OR:

http://brewbrothers.biz/

$33/bag for 2-row.

I found the link to them on this thread Mon, sent them an email, and they had my order ready on Fri which I just picked up. Most homebrew shops in this area are close to $50/bag if not there already.

If you are in NW Oregon and are buying in bulk, check them out. Seem like nice guys who want to serve serious homebrewers. We use almost 100 lbs per brew session so it pays even with current gas prices to drive a bit to save on malt.

I paid 28.00 for a 55lb bag of Maris Otter last year through a buddy of mine with Cascade Brewer's Society in Eugene OR.

I pay $50.50 after tax for 50# of American 2-row at Roxbury Mill Farm & Garden Center in Fredericksburg, VA. It is on my way home so no extra gas. They sell organic 2-row for something like $60. Is that stuff any better than the regular?

:tank:

Hey MussBrew, All Seasons in Nashville wants $93 (that's with tax)!!!!!!!!!!!!! So the way I see it, you're getting a deal. It's pretty sad that I can order all my ingredients from Midwest, and it's cheaper delivered to my door ($85, to be exact).

I go there too. Last time there they were out of domestic 2-row so I picked up 25kg of Maris Otter for $60.
