Mothers Day is also my wife's Birthday. Her Sister and Mom came up and I made gumbo.

I used 5 pounds of shrimp, nearly 2 pounds of crab meat, lots of okra of course. I like my roux pretty dark and my gumbo thick.

If I had access to blue crab at a reasonable price I would use them, but these Snow crab work well too.

Always add several cups of "seafood soup" to the roux before adding it all back to the gumbo pot.

Happy mothers day. The ragu is nice looking hoppy2bmerry and evilgrin the mac and cheese looks splendid as well.

I remained amazed by the muffin tin. These were so dark out and light inside i took a picture after a bite. Made a cake. The cakes were golden and nice and it turned out good. Wanted to do a raspberry middle, maybe next time. Also made some brownies. My mom came over today and sister. They brought rib eyes, and flat irons. The sale rib eyes from king soopers, they were ok and better then last time. Was a great day.

Big fan o da Dr Frank schtuff. Dat man knows how to make grape juice. Have you tried Herman Weimer’s? In Dundee, western shore of Seneca. Very refined, as good or better than das Docktor.
Oh heck yes he does, and it's funny. I can justify spending money on beer... But struggle with wine. Can't say I've had Weimers wine but heard the reislings are outstanding

Was craving beef..

Did a Cuban style pork roast for Mother’s Day, but mostly because I want to do Cuban sandwiches tonight!

Finally got around to doing the Cubans. Pork roast, Honey Baked Ham, salami, pickles, baby Swiss, and mustard. Awesome! Used Chibatta because I did not have time to prep and bake actual Cuban loaves.

Weimers dry Rieslings will change your perspective on life. Like a mouthful of river gravel. Worth every penny. Damn , it’s not 7:00 am and I’m craving a glass of wine.
