There are two different tap design types rear seal and forward seal.
Here is an explanation from the Perlick website (although I didn't purchase the Perlick taps).

Did you get the Nukataps? I think I will replace mine too. Sometimes it feels like I'm gonna snap the handle off trying to get a beer after it has sat a while. Nukatap is the only reasonably priced one I see. Or maybe Intertap.

Update: I forgot I had gift card money at Amazon so I bought the Perlick 630SS. Ready for some smooth tap action. Gonna replace it as soon as this keg of Hen's Tooth clone kicks - which will be soon.

I went with the stainless Intertap as it seemed like a reasonable price with good reviews - of course the Perlick is the 'gold standard'. :)

No pics but I took a chance and ordered a pack of liquid yeast - Imperial Pub A09. Arrived in two days, both ice packs melted, no surprise there, slightly swollen but seemingly ok. It’s for only an 2 gallon batch though I’ll probably still make a starter. Also ordered two sets of Kegland QD’s.
I mostly use Wyeast. I have limited experience with other liquid yeast companies, but 2 I have used are Imperial Flagship and Pub. Both were given to me because they were significantly out of date. (6 months?) I made starters and both worked fine. I made more than one beer out of each.

In the past I have smacked Wyeast packs that were 3 years old and have never had one not swell. It might take 5 days or something but they always do,

I have Perlicks on mine and I don’t regret buying those one bit.

Now that you have those you’ll be able to use a TapCooler counter pressure filler. That only works with the front sealing taps.

Oak infusion spirals - French Oak and American Oak, Medium Toast. This will be the first time I’ve used these. Looking to make something big like a wood aged Old Ale or a Founders Backwoods clone.

I normally use oak cubes. I just saw these and thought I would try it once.
I've been using oak bars so far, but recently managed to acquire a dozen proper ex-bourbon barrel staves at a hilariously low price (think they were about £18).

I still need to cut them into more workable pieces but if anyone in the UK wants any I will happily send some chunks for the postage cost. I've got waaay more than I'll ever need.

My first thought was not to post this because it's embarrassing and could be a downer in an otherwise celebretory thread, but:
Every few months we get a post about ergonomics either from someone who is just getting older or has been badly injured but like the core crowd on here "Homebrewer" is a part of our identity....you'll have my hydrometer when you pry it from my cold dead hands. If you're familiar with my posts, you'll have probably seen one half of my disability in the many spelling errors, inappropriate or missing words or just missing some point that should be obvious and that's the severed axons to my angular gyrus, insular and prefrontal cortex's, and I forgot which gyrus is the 'memory' one :p What you don't see is me getting groceries or being verical at all and the reason for this arrival in the mail is my spine...heck; 3 in every 5 shopping trips; the staff offer to carry my groceries to the parking lot for me..1 in 10 times I need to accept but I keep my head down and wait until they're gone and I'm in the drivers seat before I wipe the tears away.
Since I'm trying to get over the stigma, this is what I got in the mail today...I have it for the mobility issues but, owing to the other part that isn't seen; it's late and I only found out my old one had expired when I got a ticket for over $400...it seems that when I renewed my sticker, because of the difficulty with cognition being exacerabted by spinal pressure while standing in line I had in my hand, but forgot to hand over the renewal form from my doctor for the permit. :p I do OK with the daily responsibilities but the longer period things are difficult to wrap my head around:

At 35 I got run over on my Harley (by a GoldWing!). So for 18 years I have been saying "3 months in ICU and 1 year to learn to walk again, and all I got was this stupid blue placard!"

No shame, excrement happens.

Thanks! ...and just to be clear; I hesitated on hitting the 'like', cause heck! not good at all, but: If you ever decide to print t-shirts of this:
"3 months in ICU and 1 year to learn to walk again, and all I got was this stupid blue placard!"
I'd totally buy one! Levity and a dark sense of humour keep me going.
:mug:

My $20 Vevor pump came today! FedEx has claimed “out for delivery” every day since last Sat. Now for some 1/2” hose barbs. And some silicone hose. And some clamps. This stuff just keeps adding up, huh?

just got a barely used kegland version of this with tubing and the BSP fittings for 43 US dollar equivalent. Very pleased.

A new Cuisinart drip coffee maker.

After more than 6 months of backorder and no new ETA updates on a Bonavita Enthusiast drip brewer I canceled the order.

Frankly, the Cuisinart ranked much higher from Consumer Reports testing anyway and was less than 1/2 the price.

Tomorrow AM we'll see if it bests the old Mr. Coffee drip maker that has served us well.

...But neither one comes close to a Fresh Press or a pour over.
For us those are weekend treats, or if I end up with an exceptionally nice single origin.

Weekday morns are drip brewer to fill up our go cups before heading out to work. And, just because I say it that way doesn't mean it's Folgers in the cup. LOL.

I hear you, really. Retired now but while I was working I'd set the drip coffee timer to start brewing about 5 minutes before my alarm went off. Some mornings, if I was quick enough, I'd grab that first cup before brewing was even finished. :coff3:

How do you like it? Been thinking a vacuum sealer could come in handy once in a while, might have to ask Santa...

I use our vacuum sealer on a somewhat regular basis. We sometimes buy or end up with larger quantities of fresh food items or leftovers or coffee beans or whatever then I break it down to smaller amounts and vac seal it for freezing.

Same here. Not to mention partial bags of hops and unmilled grains.

I bought mine about 10 years ago (it's still hanging in there!). Originally bought it to seal up hops and a few other things. Came in handy during the pandemic for splitting up food for the freezer. And saving leftovers, of course. It's one of those "how did I get along without one" devices.

I bought ours back in 2011 when I started growing/drying/vacuum freezing hops, but The Spousal Unit enjoys finding bulk meat purchases on sale and then needs a way to break them into meal-size portions for the deep freeze. If you want to avoid freezer burned meat, you really need something like a FoodSaver or equivalent...

Cheers!

These I packed in my luggage 3 planes to get home luggage dropped and slammed who knows how many times and not even a chip of damage.

This was a box of six steins 5 from Germany packed and shipped by an absolutely incompetent moron working at an UPS store. Anger doesn’t cover how my hubby and I feel about this. They belonged to his brother who recently passed. Claim will be filed tomorrow.
