St. Pauli Girl
Brings back some good memories of drinking St Paulie Girl dark. For some reason always loved that stuff when skiing. Also saw some Michaob amber bock on tap the other day at the local tap room. Haven't see that in years.

then breaks out into other local couriers.
I got a delivery from China last week and the local company was called "UniExpress". That was a new one. Not the best job, just left in the middle of the driveway. 7,467 miles, according to Google, in just 10-days. Guess it true the last mile is the most expensive 🤣. Right after that pic, we had a massive rain storm, I mean starting less than an hour later. No harm as the package was triple wrapped.

Some sale hops, they probably hit 100F during the journey. Well, they are in the freezer now, accept for the syringe. I need to look up storage for that one.
The last time I got a syringe of hop extract, I stored it in the freezer. Seemed to work OK, but you'd want to let it thaw out before using it, obviously.

I'm curious, though, if you're going to find actual manufacturer recommendations... I never bothered to check! 😄

I went to the hops direct site where I bought it. The recommendation was to refrigerate and protect from light of course, so brown paper bag and in the crisper it went. I thought of freezing it, but then I wondered if there would be enough expansion to damage the syringe.

Amazon Haul seems to be Amazon's response to Temu. I was poking around during Prime Days and they had 40% off. Then it was spend $25 for free shipping, but spend $40 and get another 5%. So $44.55 ended up $27.63 (includes tax).

Anyway, I got two of these wifi temp controllers. Started out at $9.99 each, so $5.50 each. Different type of unit in that the controller is separate from the wifi plug. Controller can do heating or cooling. Probably not going to use for brewing, but instead will use for seed starting heat mats.

Then I also added in a two pack of PET carbonation tees. Normally $8.60, so $4.73.

Also a flush wand for RV water heater tanks and a BT auxiliary speaker adapter.

Looking at the Haul terms you are the importer. Given the adjustment to the “de minimis rule” when they arrive please let us know if you encountered any additional import duties, fees etc.
Thanks.

I'm not sure Haul is exactly copying Temu. What appears to be similar is that Haul is offering reduced prices for increased transit time as opposed to Prime. I have ordered twice and received products within 3 days (5 items) but also some products taking longer. One took 8 days (ball lock keg lid $8.99), the other is estimated 18 days (1 item). The 3 day items maybe weren't in their warehouses and could have come directly from sellers in US? Or items not in all warehouses? They didn't come straight from China.

The keg lid is ok, seems slightly thinner/lighter than some that I have. I bought a batch of 4 ball lock kegs recently for cheap and two kegs had thread damage and one had a coke style lid. The post was already fixed on one but I figured if I fix the other, I'd rather have a pull prv on it.

I will update if I see additional charges.

Some hops for upcoming brews.
Sane here, albeit only for one brew. Post holiday I'll be returning to my DIPA mission with an amped up version of the DEYA Brewing "Dust My Broom" recipe they recently via Malt Miller. DEYA are my local craft brewery and the reason I started home brewing so similar to the "treehouse style" I'm very excited to mirror their process.

2:2:1 Simcoe, Mosaic and Luminosa (wanted Strata but no stock, boo) with 50% of the first two being Cryo. So ~700g equivalent all said and done, in a 23L batch.

I think this batch of Simcoe might be the highest AA% pellet hop I've ever seen.

Gotta love a huge box coming in from brew hardware - in this case, a modded Brewzilla Gen 4 100 L beast. Around here, she's known as Fat Boy...it joins her little Brewzilla brother (35L w/extension) - Little Boy Brew. Currently getting a CIP cleaning with PBW, rinse and starsan.

Then ... Software update, register, and testing...To determine boil off amount per hour, and other details.

@Bobby_M made an update to the Brewzilla, putting in a whirlpool port at the lower portion of the kettle. Already tested... Whoa. It makes a cyclone !!!

Sweet. Thanks for the great packaging. UPS tried to mess it up (big tear in the side, but it was well packed and not an issue).

Now... 15 gallon batches (or more) of Stout, English Brown and Czech pilsner will be a breeze. Wooooooo!

Dang - that is BIG.

OOpps, just walked out to a mailbox fulla hops rhizomes and such from BuyHopsRhizomes.com. I ordered these in December and forgot all about them.

I have 1 bag of B grade mixed unidentified rhizomes (I'm guessing about 20 in there)
1 grower kits(comes with 5 cascade roots,5 paper twine, and 5 clips)
4 Centennial rhizomes plus an additional jumbo centennial
1 jumbo Nugget rhizome

I have not had any luck growing hops here in gulf coast TX because we are south of the preferred range, so this is my last attempt. I concentrated on the "C" (Centennial, Cascade) varieties of hops and Nugget because I was told they do a little better in this climate.
Have you tried any of the neomexicanus varieties? I live near the border with Oklahoma and have some Cascade I basically ignore and get a small harvest off of it.

Got a delivery of a power cable extension, so I can more comfortably plug in my brewzilla in the kitchen, as the cable it comes with is very short. I have extensions but they are all old and I'm not sure of their wattage rating and the brewzilla draws a lot so decided to play it safe and buy a new one I know can deal with 3KW

Got delivery today of my malts for my first ever grain brew. Decided on a whim to weigh the bags and found my 500g of Crystal T50, with 500g on the label, was actually 1Kg. Just as well I checked, would have pretty significantly changed the beer and I'd not have known why it was off. Or maybe it would have been great and then I'd forever be disappointed every time I tried to re-make it. Heh.

A new 15 litre Fermenter and some yeast and nutrient. A lot more on the way, hopefully I'll be getting another package tomorrow, although Monday is more likely, which is why I grabbed a pack of yeast from this supplier. Cider on the way. I messed around a bit with the 11 litre I got going last weekend, gonna try my best to stick to the recipe this time!

To be fair, it didn't come in the mail today, more like a week ago, but it took me until today to install due to my complicated wiring in the bar, but I think it adds some ambiance.

My wife hates it!
That looks excellent! Still, if your wife hates it I guess you probably should look into getting a more agreeable one. (Wife that is, the barrel's a Keeper!)
