I'm hoping to find some new things to listen to, my music tastes are pretty wide-ranging but am always looking for something new to sample. I'd like to see people post what they're listening to RIGHT NOW (embarrassing or not) to try out... maybe others will do the same. So I'll start... :ban:

Artist: Goldie Lookin' Chain
Song: Bad Luck
Tush Hog - Gene Vincent.

might not actually be the same recording

I cannot get this out of my head.

I like that song. It's a slower nicer version of this song...

... I'll just take a moment to remember what it was to be young, which is something that I miss sometimes, and also don't ( I have scars on both sides of my face from acting poorly in these situations, and i can remember several sitches where I avoided getting worse (avoid billiards!) - so many stories ).

As an angry old punk that has wasted a significant amount of his life writing music, that is not a song to trifle with, much less lol at.

That SOB has so many 1lb hooks coming out of his posterior that he can stack them up 16 patties high, top it with a half dozen eggs, an entire block of Wisconsin cheddar, a whole package of bacon, and a gallon of secret sauce, sell it for $75 bucks and boast that anyone that can actually eat it can have it for free.

The lyrics are stupidly good, but the hooks, on top of hooks, on top of hooks. There ought to be a law...

Really, it's a modern day version of Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart." Everyone thinks it's a love song, they groove to it madly, but, as Peter Hook said about "Love Will Tear Us Apart," "(Sigh) Oh, that's not a song that I'd like to have sung about me."

It's a cyanide song wrapped in a hooky pop confection. It's brilliant.

OK, that went from interesting to awful (chaos is good?). So not a fan of the sentiment. But it reminded me of the following. From back in the day, before streaming, when you had 10 songs on an album, and that was your shot, best make it good.

This following album was VERY successful. This was one of the tracks.

Their college radio hit was "Detachable Penis".

¿Dónde Jugarán los niños? By Maná. Popped up on my suggestions list and it is quite catchy. First thought is when did Sting learn Spanish, but looking them up, nope, that’s their lead singer.

<edit> Listening again, with what little Spanish I speak, it is actually a bit sad but still a catchy beat <\edit>

CNN has a retrospective on the Live Aid concert but only had a short clip of what I think was the best performance: Queen! And never sell Sir Brian May short - the dude had chops!

I've been enjoying the fictional duo "The Coward Brothers" (Elvis Costello and T Bone Burnett). The album is the soundtrack to an Audible play written by EC featuring the pair and Directed by Christopher Guest. I haven't listened to the play yet (looking forward to that), but the music is excellent. So many good tracks to chose from, including "Early Shirley"

Follow up... I listened to the Audible play, The True Story of the Coward Brothers, and it was hilarious. Highly recommended. It also gave a lot of context to some of the odd tunes on the soundtrack.

As much as I adore Elvis, the tracks I've been playing more often feature T-Bone Burnett's vocals.

I was recently having flashbacks of the early 70s and college. Saw two very good groups early in their early “campus tour” years before they’d made a name for themselves: The Fifth Dimension (unbelievable musicality), and, with the future Ms. SWMBO’d, Blood, Sweat and Tears. Gonna’ have to dust off those old LPs.

BS&T played at my high school, in the football stadium, in the late 60's or very early 70's. Funny, I tried googling it to find out the date but I came up empty, even though I'm 100% certain it happened.

They were full-on instrumentalists, just like early Chicago, both with strong lead vocalists. Good sounds, fond memories.

This weekend I'll be in the garage with an old friend, taking a second stab at rebuilding the engine on my '62 VW Beetle. Maybe it'll work this time 🤞.
Consequently I've had VWs on the brain a lot, so it only made sense to drop the needle (figuratively) on this one.

Hope you have this handy
