The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra plays some of the greatest music written for video games, movies and television.

The concert includes John Williams’ iconic Imperial March from Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, Alexander Courage’s classic theme to Star Trek: The Original Series, and more soundtracks from fantasy and sci-fi blockbusters.

Music from video game classics in this concert include the Super Mario Bros Theme, alongside music from some of today’s biggest-selling video games – Grand Theft Auto and Assassins Creed. The concert also features music from Titanfall 2, which the NZSO recorded for the hit game.

Sinatra at the Sands…

I have the 5.1 surround version of this album, (DVD-A, audio only), and It's really quite remarkable. The surround version puts you right in the middle of the audience with all the ambient noises left in. While the excellent music is being played you can literally hear someone to the right of you quietly clear their throat. When someone behind and to the left of you takes a drink, you can actually hear the ice cubes in their glass "tinkle." An absolutely amazing recording. Sinatra is at his best here and the band, Count Basie and his Orchestra, conducted by Quincy Jones is top notch.
