At the shop trying to decide what to pick up. Help!
Wet hops in a session IPA. What a tragedy. I've really tried hard to get on board with this style, but keep missing the boat. I didn't realize when I purchased.
Dinner! T-Bone, medium-rare, with LeSeur peas, and baked potato with butter and sour cream. Paired with the first taste of my hb McQuinn's Robust Porter. Still needs more carb, but okay. Flavor-wise, not sure. I haven't had a lot of porters recently. I like it; it's drinkable. I don't think it's amazing, though. I'll get more opinions later...hopefully when it's a little better carbed. Goes pretty well with the steak.
In honor of Stout Day (Who knew?!), I'm pouring some of Hello's hb Chocolate Coconut Stout. Wow! My lack of an educated and nuanced palate would have known stout...maybe chocolate. I would have known something else was up, but probably wouldn't have guessed coconut...until someone explained to me why it tastes like a Mounds candy bar with a little alcohol bit and a nice dark chocolate bitterness up front. The body is rich and heavy. A little creme de cocoa liquer kind of coating on the tongue on the finish. I don't think I could drink more than a bomber of this, because it's very rich and, after a robust porter, this is going to smack me...hard, but in a good way.![]()
That steak looks medium, aka overcooked.![]()
