You don't brew sours, do you? Doesn't that stuff taint your equipment forevermore?

To a degree, yes. I now have three fermenters designated to sours but the big thing is bottling equipment and hoses. Everything I use in the sours are sour only. You could clean glass fermenters and reuse them for regular beers, but I won't take that chance.

After tasting that CCB Sour, I thought about it. Something in my head said, wait...you're going to intentionally "infect" a beer in your fermentor? Better do a little research first.

It's not as intimidating as people think. On most sour styles, you can brew like you would normally and just pitch a lacto/Pedro/Brett yeast. The main thing that is different is you have to wait a lot longer before you can bottle. If I were you, I would look at the consecration kit on more beer. I am about to order that here soon and would be perfect for someone just starting out in sours.

Glad to pop on and read the sour discussion. I have been meaning to inquire about a good entry level to try! I'd love to brew my own but have yet to even taste one. I didn't even know sour beer existed until a few months ago ...

Still drinking my crappy wine. But I'll have a new gallon fermenting jug once it's gone! :drunk

Sours intrigue me because the wife seems to like them, but she hates IPA's. I thought she just didn't like strong tastes in beer but the CCB was pretty damn sour, in my opinion. It could push her over to the craft beer dark side...

Haha whatever it takes to get her there. Honestly, if you can brew beer you can brew sour beer. It's pretty easy.

Will do for sure. I already brew and drink kombucha so I think I will like sour beer? Maybe?

I'm not sure as I've never had kombucha. I'd pick up some Jolly pumpkin and see if you like them.

My wife has really gotten into sours. So much so that I'm not allowed to drink any without her approval because she is with child currently. She tries IPAs every now and again but if we go to a bar she gets a stout or sour typically. What I'm getting at is sours may be a gateway for her to try out other stuff.

Keeping with the theme, another good entry-level sour. And more dregs donated. Just double checked The Mad Fermentationist's viable dregs list beforehand, and actually surprised this has viable bugs. Figured it'd be pasteurized.

One of the best entry level sours IMO. I need to grab one out of the cellar to chill. That also surprises me it's viable.

Water.

Prepping for tomorrow...I'll be bottling my latest IPA and brewing yet again. No one around to help/get in the way/drink my beer.

Carbonated Apfelwein. Not that bad, but a little too sweet. I used 71-B this time; I think it was better when I made it last year with EC-1118.
Watching hockey.

I see you are on the coconut oil bandwagon as well. My wife bought some and she's told me how great it is and how much you can use it for. And it's sat in the cupboard for the past month. Good investment....

One of the healthiest fats you can feed your body. I was going through a jar every other week so I had to upgrade to that Costco sized jug. Give it a try...I think it tastes great and it's great for you.

Having a hibiscus saison while finishing plans for beercation #2 next week. This may seem like a silly question but anyone know if 3 Floyds sells growler fills?

Surly BLAKKR.

Going to pair it with the last of the Creme Brulees I made for Mother's Day. It should be epic.

Maggie's is a good hot day beer, I'd drink it again, the quad is pretty sweet, hoping time is good to it, I have a few from a four pack in the cellar.

Figured as much. Picked up a few of them to drink along with the Tree Shaker that Finsfan sent me. I think that is an Imperial IPA brewed with 3K pounds of peaches. Can't wait to see how they compare. :)

Prairie wine barrel noir.
Beautiful balance of roast and fruity wine flavors.

It was a good day, Dr. Dre. Had a The Illinois and BridgeBurner(which Im starting to like more now) And a however old Jalepeno Ale I made probably at least 2 years ago that tastes very fresh and crisp summery and not overwhelming- only complaint is that it had too low of heat burn. So its mild to nothing IMO but probably mild in commercial terms but you definatly know its jalepeno beer by aroma and flavor. I really wanted a few light beer drinkers to try it that wouldn't even give it a try. I think they were scared they would like it. Oh well more jalepeno beers for me. And mine happens to best type of jalepeno beer that is tolerable and where I could have a few in a row. Most I try are like, one and done. Probably could session it but I rarely session any one particular anything. Time is precious and time is ticking. No time for that kind of sessioning nonsense. Want another but I think Ill practice self control a little better. I see water and munchies in my future.

As a fat girl, this appeals to me greatly. Yum! Never bad BLAKKR but it sounds delicious!

Water. Something is making me have a terrible time sleeping.
