On Wednesday our son flew in for a quick visit, so last night we went out for a couple beers. We stopped at two breweries, both owned by friends of mine from our local homebrew club.
First up, Soft Opening, a hazy pale ale hopped with NZ hops.
Then off to Apogee Brewing for a Monks in Space, a Belgian Triple.

A little Bell’s Two Hearted
Red ale with spruce tips, Cascade, and alderwood smoke. HB.

HB Scottish strong ale. Short pour because it’s >11% ABV.
HM vanilla cider
Scotch Ale and Old Rasputin clone.
First time having this brown ale from Cigar City. Malty, a little chocolate and a hint of coffee. I'll definitely drink it again.

Going heavy tonight
Stopped at Figueroa Mountain Brewing, needed to pickup their 12th anniversary ale, had them pour me a sample too. I have every year, unopened, except their first year.
Homebrew Porter for my first after work beer tonight. Gonna take a few more to get over this day.
Hotel beer, brought back from iron hill.
Day 16, last of the advent calendar beers until I get back from a road trip to FL to visit family

My Xmas homebrew, a Helles, named by popular vote, "Ethanol With Boughs of Holly"
Downing a couple 12% Apple Ciders I made about a year ago. Really good now after aging. Saved cider from last year for Mulled Cider for Christmas gathering at my house next week.
It was a long day.

Christmas kolsch at the alm in philly
Our #2 grandson (college football player) and his girlfriend (college volleyball player) are staying with us for a few days, partly to decompress after finals week and to do their Xmas shopping. It’s been a lot of fun having them around.
Yesterday we visited the “antiques mall” downtown. It’s more of a permanent, indoor, flea market, which takes up all 3 levels of an old furniture store . There are about 80 vendors selling everything from some really nice antique furniture to stuff which appears to have been retrieved while dumpster diving in a low rent trailer park. It’s a fun place to kill a few hours and I usually manage to score some beer related items.
From last night, some HB Blonde Ale with the “cold beer here” sign I got yesterday.
And some HB Dunkelweizen in one of a pair of cute, 8 oz Hamm’s glasses.
